Have encountered several times, mention of "soft (or magic) spots" on vehicles. I thought that vehicle hitbox is homogeneous volume of space registering hits coming from various directions and not making any favor for some of them.
Can i blow up HAV with one sniper rifle shot down the barrel? If there are soft spots can i hit them with swarms purposefully or is it by chance every time?
Do infantry have soft spots too? Can i blow up infantry by aiming at wielded weapon? Or at least jam/overheat it?
Anybody willing to clear these things for me? Thanx in advance |

There are weak points as said by CCP but I never was told were they are. The weak points act as the vehicle's "Head" so you will do bonus damage but don't expect to take anything out with a sniper rifle. If you want to hit the weak point (assuming you know were it is) with a swarm then you are going to have to plan some things out as swarms target the base of the vehicle. Plasma cannons, mass drivers, forge guns, and AV nades can be used to good effect though.
Thinking realistically the weak point on a tank would be the base and the rear but that's just a guess. Can't say for LAVs and AAVs.
`Sigh. Just another fun game of DUST. |

The weak spots on a tank are the engine block in the back, and to a lesser extent the treads.
You canGÇÖt kill a tank with just a Sniper Riffle, but it is possible to get a tank kill with a sniper rifle if someone with AV has nearly killed it.
I had not known the weak spots for LAVGÇÖs and Dropships, so thanks Valerie.
Smooth Assassin is correct, that while you canGÇÖt kill a LAV with a sniper rifle, you can head shot the driver, then pick off the gunner and the passenger before they figure out why the LAV stopped. If you pull this off I think you can safely consider yourself a professional sniper. |

I can confirm that tanks are weak in the back. It makes a huge difference in damage. I can't confirm, but I also think they are weak on the bottom, which is only applicable towards prox mine damage. |

To go into a little more detail: Hit the LAV head on, the hood Dropship weak points are the exposed thrusters, including the front ones (on the bottom) Can't say the HAV one better
Here's how you find out the weakspots. Take a forge gun out, and deploy a vehicle. Walk around the vehicle and point your forge all over the vehicle. The weak spots are the spots where the your weapon's efficiency rating is highest. |

Yup. Just like when you aim at someone's head and you see the weapon efficiency rating jump up. Vehicle weak spots are the equivalent of getting a headshot on them.
The points mentioned are correct and you can find them yourself by just aiming at a vehicle (even a friendly one). |

the weakest spot on the tank is the under belly if you can hit it with a forge gun. i know that is the weakest because i noticed how high the effective rating was when i called in my tank when i was looking at the belly of it |
