So ever since the closed beta I've been running a Minmatar logi. The whole reason I skilled into it again with the last respec was that I had so many BPOs that were already for the minmatar (that also required Minmatar logistics level 1) that I figured it was the best choice. I would also be the most familiar to me.
Well I haven't regretted my decision, but I ran into an issue the other day: How am I supposed to make a decent armor repair tank with this suit?
I mean, I want to go all out with armor modules and armor repair to be a super healing monster, but it seems like no matter what fitting I choose I can't seem to get enough armor to repair, or enough repair for the amount of armor. I also have to use two complex extenders just to get the shield level to 250 for enough of a buffer before they get to my armor.
Then I go look at the Amarr logi and it now has 4 low slots! Heck, if I knew that it was going to change I would have chose the Amarr logi to begin with...but wait.
What about the Gallente logi? It has 5 low slots, and even reduces the cost of equipment...this would help TREMENDOUSLY with trying to fit everything, especially with the cost of the armor repairers. ______________________________
My personal opinion is to go with Amarr as not only do they have a bonus to armor repair (which I think is the key to my build), but an additional slot for a sidearm if I'm looking for more of an aggressive suit. The problem is it seems kind of slow, and I don't want that to be something I overlooked.
Then again I am using a lot more equipment these days and if I can just fit another armor repair onto the Gallente the bonus the Amarr gets is pointless. The biggest problem with the Gallente being that it's not going to have as much of a shield buffer, and seems more like a sneaky/defensive suit.
So what do you think? If you run either of these suits at the proto level It would be great to hear some feedback on what you like and don't like about it.

I would suggest the Amarr Logi, as it is the amalgamation of what proto-Assault used to be with multiple equipment slots and the availability of the sidearm, but it suffers from having a slower movement and sprint speed. If the speed is an issue, remember to skill into Biotic upgrades to give you that extra 5% in movement , sprinting, and stamina, while spec'ing into plates (Ferroscale after the last update have become my friend in order to avoid further movement penalties). But since the adjustment of one more low slot at Proto, and the addition of the sidearm for all levels, it has great potential, at least in my eyes. It is not an easy suit to play, and play well. It requires a coordinated squad most of the time, but you can go into matches on the solo and still do well (typical solo match for me after readjusting to the changes with every update is still 9/3 - 14/3 in an advanced suit - typical cost being about 53k per running advanced gear, weapon, toxin, 2 complex armor rep'rs, enhanced plates and shield extenders, with a complex damage mod).
The thing is that the Amarr logi has the second best recharge timers for shields, which when coupled with the armor repair bonus and a fair starting EHP, it has served me pretty well. If you are spec'd into the AR, it really turns the suit into a beast.
Currently I am focused on the ASR, which still does me right, but requires a bit more ducking and weaving. With only running 2 complex armor rep'rs I have an armor repair rate (Amarr Logi at Proto mind you) I rep at 20.52 per second.
It is definitely the heavy's best friend if what the heavy needs is a frontline battle buddy that is willing to pair off from them and work flanking maneuvers with either a sentinel or commando.
But I am partial to the suit since it was my choice once Uprising was being revealed.
Now I am spec'ing back into Caldari Assault. |

I love my Amarr logi suit. It's the next suit I'm taking to proto.
It doesn't seem too slow for me at all, but then again you're used to minnie suits so you could be bothered by it.
Everything said and done the Amarr logi is a great suit. Because it has a sidearm slot it makes a great sniping or AV platform so you can back up your squad by counter sniping or carrying a swarm so they can focus on anti infantry stuff.
Gal-logi might be better for a pure-logi roll, but an Amarr would be more capable in combat. |

Amarr are a better front line logi and can hold there own in a fight, while Gallente gets to hold 4 equipment slots and gets a nice reduction to carry it all.
Personally, I plan on going Gallente, but I'm bias(since I'm working on a Gal scout and already finished my assault) |

You can omnitank Amarr suits reasonably well. Especially since 1.4, it's key. Anyway, if you look to the left you will notice that I probably run amarr logi. You would be correct, but I have callogi up to ADV too. Not familiar with the gallente, unfortunately, so I can't speak specifically to it. So, without really being able to speak to how to fit a gallente, I give you this advice. Pick the suit based on what you are more likely to do with it. As always in these discussions, the sidearm is the biggest difference between any logi suit and any other.
- Are you a dedicated support logi who has his repper out more than his gun? Go Gallente
- Do you like to mix it up a little, and mostly go hives/links? Go Amarr.
I picked Amarr because for the reason above. Also, I still have some inner seething rage against vehicles from the pre-1.4 murder taxi days and like to hunt them. So I can run my proto swarms and still be able to defend myself when dropping my hives/links. |

I'm confused, you do know that you minmitar logi proto suit also has 4 low slots! And 4 high! But, if you really hate it id go with the gallente for the racial bonuses for equipment.
It's really going to depend on your play style, traditional logi support or assault logi? What's your core upgrades, armor and shield looking like? |

I'm maxed on all core passives, well, really close (most are at level 5)
I'm more of a traditional logi, but after 1.4 I've been using it as more of an assault class. Even though the minmatar has 4 lows and highs, you need 3 complex extenders just to get above 300 shield, and I can't do much repping with the low slots since I need them for health. |
