Due to bad hit detection I will be using the Nova Knives or the Scrambler Rifle, maybe even the laser. Point blank ranged someone and I even heard the shot, didn't to crap. His happened a bunch of other games. But I will be now using as a sidearm next to my knives. Seriously. Shotguns need either a buff so I can 2 hit KO guys, or get better hit detection. |

There's really not much wrong with the Shotgun these days. I mean I occasionally have a situation like that, but usually it's because of bad connection on my end. I think the hit detection used to be pretty bad, but I'd say these days it seems significantly better.
It definitely doesn't need a buff in terms of damage though, I mean a CRG-3 is enough to one-hit most suits around the 400hp mark, and that's without damage mods. Most heavies will even drop in 3-4 clear shots.
If you're running a Scout suit, it's probably that that needs the buff, not the shotgun. |

I use my SG depending on map and current latency. Matches with even the slightest lag pretty much means insanely poor performance with the SG. You'll fire and have to wait a half a second for it to connect, if it does.
There's no doubt that the SG tends to misfire quite frequently though. |

Actually, the few times I've used them, the Nova Knives hit detection isn't very good either. I've ran right into someone, slash, no damage dealt :/ |

As a shotgunner pre-Uprising, I have given up on that weapon. Almost to the point of petitioning to have that SP refunded.
Best use for shotgun now, is as a CQC 'sidearm' on a AR Commando suit. (Anybody use this set-up? Sounds kinda sweet, except for the grim impressions of the Commando. Proto SMG as a primary w/ shotty sidearm on an Assault frame?) |

Ya, the scout suit needs a buff. There are not many situations that a scout suit is an advantage that can not be equalized or neutralized by any other suit variations. |

The range is poor, I've died plenty of times due to being inches out of my optimal range, but I think overall the weapon is quite well balanced.
The scout suits really are just not survivable. You can hit like 400 hitpoints on a Proto Minmitar Scout suit, but then you're sacrificing all kinds of other modules etc, due to the PG/CPU restrictions of the dropsuit. I recently switched from Scout suits to Gallente Assault, with all the low slots you can still be as quick as you like, whilst having twice the overall hitpoints. Even with a much larger hitbox it is just a better suit with a shotgun. Especially for Planetary Conquest as the scouts just aren't competitive friendly these days. |

i think i got a one hit kill on a heavy once...of course he was sniping and real easy to get that shot in at point blank range...
used a mlt shot gun as well..
although i i find funny about this is the simple fact i flew up to him by derpship and my derpship exploded and the sniper not moving an inch... |

Having shot a stupidly large amount of clones in the back with a shotgun, I can only agree that some people are ridiculously oblivious to the world around them. |

Agreed. The current SG is more reliable than earlier Uprising iterations. Though it isn't quite reliable enough yet to run the Breach with confidence. The trigger-to-fire delay persists; I assume this is a performance or latency issue. This hesitation makes the Breach a rather risky choice, and makes maximizing damage output with a standard shotgun quite the difficult task at times.
I hope CCP hasn't written off the Shotgun as "good enough" ... I'd very much like to run the Breach again. |

My thoughts exactly. I frequently to my SMG after firing my first or second shot. Rarely ran a sidearm in Chromosome.

And I run a Caldari Proto Basic Medium Frame with a CRG-3, advanced Knives, Complez shields, and a few complex cat kins. Maybe I have a PG upgrade. But this is only good 60% of the time. Too many times I run into a guy with the shotgun at point blank range and it doesn't do anything. |

The Problem I have the shotgun is not reliable. One game I can OHK a std Medium suit the next I need two or three shots, The proficiency skill is not very useful on the shotgun as well.
Throe in the problem described here, and you know why shotgunners have a hard time since uprising. Back in chromosome the shotgun was a weapon to fear that was quite fun to use. now the shotgun is unreliable beast that punishes thes user more than the victim, even at shotgun range its easier to kill with the AR even under perfect circumstances for the shotgun :( |

I've switched to doing this. Proto minmatar assault with the ishukone assault SMG and the shotgun as a secondary. The shotgun is just far too unreliable to use as a primary anymore. I have two main issues with it at the moment:
1) Hit detection is atrocious and has gotten worse since the last build. The amount of times I do no damage until the 3rd or 4th shot is borderline ridiculous.
2) ROF seems somewhat inconsistent. I have no idea what causes this issue, but the gun sometimes does not respond when I pull R1, meaning that my ROF slows right down. This has also caused my death numerous times.
The SMG/shotgun fit can be quite effective however. Especially in conjunction with core locus grenades. |
