A lot of these training corps are like... 20 or 30 people. With those numbers it would really be dangerous to let them into your elite corp.

To try out personalities, skills, over a period of time.
I don't know about other corps but the one I belong to likes skill and a good personality.
Without either you're not getting in. No one wants some immature child ruining the vibe or some annoying rager. |

But you can do all that in an 'Elite' corp.

training corps are a good way to gauge skill and ability while still retaining a safe distance. |

Training Corps are like holding cells for the more elite corps.
Think of it this way.
A player may be placed in a training corp to ensure he/she isn't some 11 year old kid who talks about their love for Yugioh, Zoids, and Digimon relentlessly and then brags how he/she used their mom's credit card to buy AUR.
A player may be also be placed in a training corp if their skill or stats aren't quite up to snuff for the main corp, but they show promise and improvement is believed achievable. |

We do it as we want to have people playing with our corp members and building a community. It's also good at times to have a clear hierarchy of experience for when people need fitting advice ect. We want to be inclusive, but to compete you need to have barriers in place

Generally, most corps / clans / guilds with 'training sections' aren't worth your time. Go find a corp that gets down to business instantly. If you don't fit in, leave. |

those corps are rather fail and try to rush into PC with absolutely no cohesion or tactics what so ever during a pub match, it's all "hehe and haha" on the mic instead of practicing tactics, they practice their standup comedy routines that arent very funny, then they throw 80 mil isk away thinking that they're somehow magically going to pull it off in PC when they never practiced any tactics in the first place. then after they failhard in PC the corp channel erupts into a screaming match all because everyone was in a hurry to get down to business and no one really knew each other in the first place. |

It's too easy for a new unqualified corp member to form a full sized squad, load it into a PC battle and trash things.
If they have to prove their loyalty to the corp before they even make it in, you have more control over who has that kind of access. You don't need to give a player authority in DUST for them to have more than reasonable access to important battlefields.
Most of the top-level corps have already let at least a couple of spies into their ranks anyway, though. I look forward to seeing them play their hands. |

Its also a good way to have them learn pc. Your main corp is there for serious competitive play. You have a team with skills that have been learned over a fairly long time with a clear role they play. Be it logi, assault, scout, heavy or tanker. The training corp is for that. training.
You take in the raw, green and inexperienced and help them find there niche. What they have the most fun in and make it the best god damn killer it can be . We also set up pc battles from our training corp side to have good fights and have the ones with the skills to be in pc get some experience as its a totally different place than a pub match.
Our tax is also less in the training corp than the main. |

it's not fun when you make a bad decision assigning directors who's egos go unchecked and they think they're going to lead a gaggle of random noobs they recruited out of local to victory in PC. i speak from experience here, at least it wasn't my personal isk they threw away. i let them do all that so they would learn the hard way, and i didnt want to be the bad CEO guy raining on their little parade. instead of taking the defeat as a lesson one of directors thought if he became a ceo of his own corp and took all the members that that would some how magically win PC for him, but they went on to loose more PC battles and never learned to play as a team even after faling like 4 more PC battles, they still dont quite get it. |
