What are your thoughts? Which weapon is the best of the 3? At every lvl from std to proto. What are your reasons why? And how far are you specced into each one?

I made an assault scrambler character, and I seem to get ripped apart by ARs at long range. It saddens me because blaster tech should be for super short range brawling, and pulse lasers should have a bit more range for a little less punch on them. |

There is no 'best'. They all have their strengths.
This char has proto AR with prof 4, I have an alt with proto laser prof 4 and one with proto ascr prof 4. At the moment I find I'm playing the Ascr and laser chars a lot more.
Personally I prefer the Ascr. The AR is slightly easier to use at medium/long range due to the lack of recoil/dispersion. The laser is superb on open maps/terrain. |

I have been aurum SCR with one charge shot and 2 pulse shot I can take down most medium suits. with the aurum LR at range I can melt almost anything. and the exile AR is like old reliable.
Weakness to the SCR is overheats and when it does it takes away from your shields wtf these things overheating has killed me at least twice
Weakness to the LR overheating and you have to be at medium are long range medium to close range your toast.
AR weaknesses none
I am not specced into any of the weapons However I do get killed by AR and the SCR more than every other weapon in the game |

Feedback damage on the SCR/LR keeps the guns honest and I like that it has a specific weakness. It makes you more aware of your ammunition and you are forced to learn its tendancies. With that said, the feedback damage of the SCR is miniscual in comparison to that of the LR. I believe the LR feedback damage is like 225? Crazy high imo.
And btw, since I run Aamar assault, i can hit 1 charge and about 10 pulse shots before the overheat. Not ENTIRELY sure that is exact. I will test it and post a definitive answer soon. |

I used to LOVE using the LR. Used it exclusively during Chromasome BEFORE it became popular because of the huge nerf of the TAC rifle, as that was my main gun during closed beta. I just wanted to find a similar gun with medium/ long range capabilities and thought I would give the LR a try. It apparently was a good choice. |

I have to be pretty cautious about everything when I play with my Scrambler Rifle fitting because its a cheap fitting and everything (Epecially the AR) eats it alive if I'm not careful but, since I am, I regularly score anywhere from 20 - 10 kills per match. |

Bottom link on the original post shows the effectiveness of the weapons at different ranges vs shields. As you can tell from the graph the laser rifle is more of a niche weapon. It is very good at that niche though and it is a very important niche in the current build. Basically though it is designed to be fired from the back of the firing lines and picking people off. As for the AR, it does 110% to shields and 90% to armor and has less kick than the ASR. Although I feel the TAC AR falls short of the SR for semi-auto capabilities. Also, the AR is the easiest of the three to fit so you can get a better tank on your suits for similar DPS. Next up the ASR and SR, 120% vs shields and 80% vs armor. Like I said, the ASR has more kick than the AR, so it requires smaller bursts to be effective at range. Though the ASR and SR both have better range than the AR. You may also want a sidearm for taking out armor, like an SMG or a flaylock.
TLDR: LR is niche, good for ranges beyond the other two but useless up close. AR is more versatile, doing a better percentage vs armor. Also easier to fit SR and ASR have better range than an AR but not the rang of an LR. Great vs shields, not so great vs armor. Keep your sidearm.
Personally I prefer an SR or ASR and a flaylock. Strip the shields with the SR and take out the armor quickly with the flaylock. Overall though it is all a matter of opinion. |

Here's what I have speced into
Proto AR with prof to at least 4 and sharpshooter to, I think, lvl 3. Proto ScR and AScR with prof at level 1 (just got these weapons last night) Advanced LR on my alt
And some basic thoughts about each.
AR - Great for nearly every situation, it beasts in CQC, mid range, and can at the very least annoy players at longer ranges. Very low recoil and dispersion, pretty much shoots on rails. The AR is also easy to spam without too much consequences (except running out of ammo). It melts heavies like they were fat scouts with no HP, and even the militia AR can topple a proto calogi suit tanked in health in an instant (happened to me several times since 1.4).
ScR - Beast of a weapon if a proper charged shot is landed, without charge it is still effective as you can fire longer without overheating, although the weapon does kick pretty fierce. It varys from excellent to sub-par in CQC, just depends if you can land a lucky charge shot (or have good aim). Mid-range it is amazing if shots can be landed, and this weapon is also quite effective for longer ranges too (much longer than the AR). However the success of the ScR requires good aim, as spamming the weapon quickly overheats it, leaving you vulnerable until it cools down. One of the biggest strengths of this weapon is if you can find a good "camping" spot, it is almost unbeatable because you can stay out of most weapons effective range while still messing them up nicely with charged shots. The other really neat thing is that the charge shots don't use up any more ammo, one quick shot or charge shot still only takes 1 ammo away. So you can in essence stretch the ammo out for an entire match without restocking if using mostly charged shots.
LR - This is a very fun weapon to use, and can melt people quite nicely. And the new sight is amazing! However it's range is pretty pathetic, often an AR can do more damage to you than you do to them in the LR's optimal range. And it is absolutely useless in CQC. For something that sucks so badly in CQC, it needs to have quite a bit more range, as LR users should play similarly to a sniper, stay far away and stack damage mods (glass cannon) otherwise you will get dropped quickly if in a CQC scenario.
AScR - I haven't yet played with the proto version of this, I was having way too much fun with the Imperial charge version last night. But I am specced into Advanced AScR on my alt and have used it quite a bit. It is a fun weapon to use and the RDS sights are great. However for how well it is supposed to do vs shields, I find that the AR drops shields even faster and chews through armor. Whereas the AScR seems to take longer to rip through shields and barely seems to do much with armor. Also it has some pretty fierce kick, I find that it kicks a lot worse than the AR and requires you to constantly adjust aim downwards while holding the trigger. I'll get more insight into the proto version when I get around to using it. But the ADV AScR is worse than the AR in every way possible (except for the RDS sights).

This is meant to be an honest appraisal of the Rifles in this game. PLZ take the trolling elswhere AR is alright, Scrambler is the best, but Laser dominates at mid range.
For the AR, I have Proficiency 1, for the Scrambler Proficiency 1, and for the laser Operation 1. |

I have Proficiency 5 in ScR and pretty much only use the assault variant as I tend to shoot the charge version to fast and overheat. I really like it mostly because I play an Amarr character and I've always preferred dot sights in FPS games. That said the assault ScR has alot more kick than my Exile AR that I have no skill in. I know there is no kick reducing skill for ScR but liek I said I am unskilled in AR so its a pretty even comparison.
I still like the AScR better than an AR though and Caldari players should be wary when I bust out the Carthum (though not too much because my gun game is still kinda weak)
