im having extreme issues with this update, its file is way too big for my PS3 to handle, ive tried updating 30 times and it times out right in the middle of it, i dont know what is so massive it has to be 2.3GB all for a lousy update but its really making me mad, id like to play the game not sit here 7 days WAITING for it to update. its literally sucking my memory like a pig and im concidering of deleting. my dad plays alot and is obessed but even hes sick of the massive updates. ive tried everything i could think of and its doing no good. some help would be useful. |

2.3GB is not that big for a game. Sorry, that is just the way it is. SONY has an 8GB limit for certain downloads. The BluRay drive is rated for 50GB and many modern games will easily overload a single DVD. In particular once they support 1080P.
All that aside, your problem appears to be somewhat unique. Many have had network issues that make downloading the file difficult. Also, it is important, if you have limited bandwidth, to not have others in the household playing Netflix, downloading CDs or soaking up most of the resources.
I have an older PS3 Fat Boy and it has been upgraded with a 320GB HDD (laptop 5400RPM only!). I have never had a problem with any of the downloads. Ever since the very first Closed Beta.
Let us know what type of PS3 do you have and how much free drive space there is on it.

It took me 19 minutes to download an another 10-12 minutes to install. I only have a 18mb download speed.
So I understand your frustration, however let me ask you about your internet.
What is your download speed? You should maybe run a general speed test from you primary pc to judge the stability of the connection, while you are at speedtest look for pingtest and test your PING and for packet loss.
Is the ps3 connected via wire or wirelessly to the router?
Do you have any ports open either for the SEN/PSN or for the Dust Specific ports?
General Information
Call up your ISP and ask them to verify the network on their end, and to confirm the information they have for you.
Check any splitters that feed the modem. How many times is it split before it hits your modem? Make sure the outside line is not damaged from any storms or animals.
Your PS3 has plenty of space left it is not the problem probably but if you want you can look up how to access SAFE MODE on the device over in the PS3 Forums, it will tell you the steps you can try if you think there is a problem with the PS3, however be aware that the options in the safe mode can erase your entire PS3 so make sure you read up on the proper use. |

I had the same problem for days and it would not download it always said there was an error, the same thing happened when i tried to download other updates. What i did was download the game again from the PSN store and it took a while but it downloaded no problem. When i tried to install it took only 10 mins, but it got stuck on 64% so i turned the media server on and the same thing happened. Third time i tried i didnt change any settings, execpt repeatedly tap the X on my controller until it finished installing.
i noticed the previous version of DUST 514 was about 2463, and the one on the PSN store was 2030mb. and the install was about another 30mb. IDKif it will help you, but thats what helped me |

Ah thanks guys, appreciate the help. i finally got it to install, took forever but its all good now, sorry for the frustration. hope to see u guys on the battlefield!! ^_^ |
