That is about it really, find a big one that is active during your play times to make sure you can always squad up, once you catch up to some vets and can reliably fill a role on a team (right now everyone just runs logi's and ar but that hopefully will change soom) you might be able to do PC or FW reliably with a team. |

corp are there as a convenient way for people to play together, also corps can place a tax which might seem like a bad thing but you can use that fund to play around in PC or just host events for fun where everything is funded by the corp coffers. many corps also use their funds to help new guys with skills and gear. That's a bout it in the short term. In the long term you will need a corp to do participate in certain aspects of this game, but what that will entail we will see.
my suggestion find a group of guys you like playing with and join their corp or create one with them, you can also just join a corp that's recruiting on a whim, works well enough most times. |

Corporations are huge in this game. It makes finding squads easier (which you'll need to win most of the time), they're helpful with showing new players the ropes - as far as skill points, gaining isk, overall gameplay and tactics. There are all different kinds of corps as well. Some play competitively as in Planetary Conquest, some are just casual players who enjoy playing together, and others are designed distinctly to help new players. Finding a corp right off the bat could be difficult, this forum has a section dedicated to corporations recruitment (which can be found here Corporation Forum)
Best of luck to you. Don't be discouraged if you do poorly in this game at first, it has somewhat of a learning curve compared to other console FPS games. |

I've found that joining a corp gives you the priviledge of writing LFS and eventually a non alliance squad will send you an invite to squad up. |
