I'm not going to name and shame because that's whiny and I guess it's counter-intuitive. But what is NOT counter-intuitive is Logistics Snipers.
Now. Logistics are generally supposed to support infantry and be triages. But, alas, there is no "Equality" in Dust 514 and people will continue to in some ways exploit Logistics suits. More so than in 1.2. One particular example is a sniper I encountered with 913 armor and 100 or so shield. Wielding a Thale's TAR-05 and using a 'Neo' suit. Of course I won't disclose these people because, that's not intuitive but I think it is a good idea for us to reflect on whether this is fair or unfair.
What I want to see is whether the Community agrees with me when I say that this isn't really my idea of fun. This person clearly is clever, i.e. a movement penalty doesn't apply to snipers. But I want to see the turn speed and/or ADS speed dramatically reduced for these people. |

I don't think it's a problem. This person is highly specialized in one thing, but can be easily countered by flanking. And he'll show up on the scanner as well.
Unless he was redlining, of course. Then he's an OP, no-good douchebag. |

The main difference is here is the Thales, I guess. It has the damage of a Charge sniper rifle, but the speed of a tactical. And increased zoom. This way you can stay FAR away from the battle and absorb any counter sniper-fire.
But I doubt his fun last long. Thales are very rare. I've played over 2 months, have 6m SP, and have never seen a Thales up close.
Just their bullets. In my head.
And even that was rare, although I usually die from sniper fire. |

I snuck up on a thales sniper, destroyed his hives, and then debated which weapon to use to kill him. After I made my choice I decided to just put a rail gun round in his head. Some how he survived (downed) so I gave 'em a double tap. Felt good to know that he will see I had killed him with just a STD rifle from less then 1m away.
`Sigh. Just another fun game of DUST. |

I've got something like 40 Thales in my inventory but I've yet to use one. I probably won't until I can create a pretty defensive fitting so I don't lose one very easily.
I've also got an ADV Min Logi fit with a SN. The highs are damage mods and the lows profile dampeners so it's pretty squishy and relies on stealth. I don't use it much as I'm not into the role.
I think it's smart of him to use the best fitting he could when risking an officer weapon. |

I think the obvious solution to the "OP Logi" suit argument is to nerf CPU/PG on the suits and give Logi suits a role bonus that massively reduces the CPU/PG of appropriate equipment (e.g. Uplinks, needles, repair tools, nano hives etc.). In theory, you should be able to fit out gear for your role just fine, but will struggle to fit out a "max tank sniper." |
