I started playing yesterday. Today when I log in, there is no longer a Battle Academy option in the Battle Finder. I tried a different battle but got absolutely spanked as my sniper rifle needs so many shots to kill enemies that seem to take me out almost instantly.
Is this intentional? If not, how do I get the Battle Academy option back?
For the records, I have ~1300 WP and ~562k SP. I thought the cap for Academy was much higher.
Thanks! Josh |

They keep fiddling with the Academy, so it is possible that they changed it again. I am not sure.
You should be able to take out standard medium frame or light frame suits in 2 or 3 shots. It will take 3 to 5 shots to take out some prototype medium frame suits or a heavy since you donGÇÖt have Sniper Perficiancy skill or high quality damage mods yet. You should still be able to 1 shot most suits if you can get a head shot.
If you are being one shotted by another sniper they are likely either getting a head shot on you, or are using a Charged Sniper rifle. You will learn the joys of the charged sniper rifle later, if you stick with it. My best advice is to learn to make it difficult for other snipers to find you, because the best way to avoid dying to a sniper is to not be shot at.

Thanks, Fox! I was thinking of moving to a light/scout suit for that reason. is that a recommended sniper config? |

Yeah, go scout, especially if getting OHK by other snipers sounds appealing to you. |

Yeah, I'd take a militia heavy suit out while your learning the sniping spots. And it generally takes a double tap to kill anyone - that's why some go the tactical sniper rifle - less damage on one shot but you can keep bashing the fire button and the second shot will come twice as quickly as a slightly more powerful sniper rifle.
Look out for gunners on LAV's, when the driver stops moving - man, are they ever still... |

I have mostly used medium frame suits for my Sniping work. I liked them early on because they could tank the first shot from a sniper and give me a chance to duck for cover before the second shot took me out, where as a Scout suit can be one shotted much more easily. However, now that so many people are using Charged Sniper rifles you are likely to be one shotted with either a light or medium frame suit.
The Scout suit will help you move from spot to spot faster and allow you to jump higher when rock climbing in the mountains, and the Gallente Scout suit with the Radar range skill and Suit bonus would help you spot people on your radar who are sneaking up behind you. People often go up into the hills to hunt snipers.
So while I thought the medium frame suits were better for sniping before, the scout suit certainly has a lot going for it now.
Another approach is to go with a Cammando or Heavy suit so that a Charged Sniper rifle canGÇÖt one shot you unless they get a head shot. The commando suit does not have many module slots, but this may be good for a new player who is not skilled into modules yet. The drawback of the heavy is that they are slow and have a hard time jumping high enough to step over a curb much less attempting rock climbing. If you go Heavy you will probably want to drive a LAV to the general area you whish to Snipe from, then recall it when you get there so that it does not give away your position. Or, alternatively, forget about hiding and just park the LAV right behind you so that an enemy SniperGÇÖs siting dot terns red anywhere on the vehicle and they canGÇÖt tell whether they have you lined up or just the LAV.
If you are trying to hide, donGÇÖt put a Drop Uplink of Nano Hive anywhere near your position. If you are not trying to hide, crouching in the glowing sphere makes your exact position hard to see. This is sometimes used for cover when sniping from the tops of high buildings where no other cover is available.
