Idea: there are some parts of HAV's, LAV's and Dropships that are more resistant to AV weaponry , allowing them to absorb more punishment. for example;
H.A.V's are designed to be nearly unstoppable, any frontal attacks are rendered irrelevant due to its thick armor. their side plating is slightly less resilient, but it also does the job well however, because all their armor is focused on the front and sides, their rear plating is weaker and thus more susceptible to A.V.
L.A.V's are made to be fast, agile and capable of speeding across the battlefield. but since they are fast they sacrifice alot of armor to achieve that. any frontal attacks are sure to decimate the fusion core powering the L.A.V (and pretty explosions :D ), but any other hits from anywhere other than the front section do damage to the chassis, but ensuring that the L.A.V continues.
Dropships are as of now the only vehicle capable of flight, it was designed to support ground troops in planetary operations, but AV are a constant threat to their existence. any attacks to the drop ship on all sides are largely absorbed due to its feature as troop transport, as it is designed around that feature. however their Achilles heel is marked by the thrusters that provide the power needed to achieve flight. hit that and we go down ina way similar to black hawk down.
how this changes the game;
AV weaponry and its effectiveness now depends on the location their payload strikes the vehicles, aiming for that weakpoint is now your best bet at taking down vehicles faster.
and dont bother with the QQ, proto AV still does better than std, but if your shooting it at an HAV for example, your more likely to inflict more damage shooting it in the weak point rather than their reinforced location. |

Yea, and it's the only place where small arms fire can do damage (11% or so maximum). Just the box though, the areas to the sides, above, or below confer no bonuses. |
