LOL! I have this small feeling that once it appears, mercs rapidly try to kill each other just to squeeze another match in. |

Agreed. Or at least make it only pop up when we're at the map, picking a spawn point. |

That feeling when you're almost about to finish a hack and interrupted by the downtime notice, then proceed to get mowed down by an HMG.

should only ******* appear in quarters OR a voice message instead of a visual message, there should be a loud beep across the map as a speaker starts up
seriously who the **** though " WE SHOULD LET THEM KNOW THE GAMES GOING DOWN FOR MAINTENANCE WITH A BIG MESSAGE COVERING HALF THE ******* SCREEN IN A FIRE FIGHT" and for some reason they all agreed with them this is why catnip is bad |

CCP posted the regular downtime schedule for all to see. If you are playing matches after the fact then you have only yourself to blame for trying to squeeze in that one last match before the downtime. |

The downtime notice has been in use since eve started, in eve it gives players time to dock their ships or risk losing gear, yes dust is not eve but its the eve universe, hence the title 'EVE dust 514'. The downtime notice in dust just gives players an advanced warning that the servers are going down, and they should make the match they're in their last. If it wasn't there and matches were cut short then morons would be like 'dafuq ccp, whaddup wit da servas yo!? Fix dis sheet or iz goin to coll of doodie and stuff ur gaem!' Stop moaning about stuff that doesn't matter, waste of forum space and waste of time even reading such a thread |

What, in the HOUR before downtime that is my PRIMARY PLAYTIME? Right.
We know when downtime is. It's the same time each day. It doesn't even matter if you're in a match and downtime cuts you off; you don't lose gear and I imagine stats don't change either. |

We're aware that it's an issue, and we're looking at better ways to put out messaging for downtime.

Also moved to Feedback/Requests While you are at it could you do a voice notice in eve as well? Or a loud Klaxon sound indicating the server is going down? Eve and Dust have the same message, in both cases it requires hitting a button. |

How about a trumpet? A big ass loud trumpet that will scare the hell out of people wearing headphones! Like an 'apocalypse' trumpet, you know....like the one we're supposed to hear when Armageddon supposedly happens. |

Just make the message not intrusive but still obvious..
Something off to the side like mail notifications.
And obviously stop it locking up the controls. |

Actual suggestion--
A rolling Holographic display across the screen in bold text.. preferably in the center of the screen that says "Server Downtime Imminent!" would probably be the best alternative. The holographic text would be see-through so you could still play, but you would realize the servers are about to go down even if you are deaf.
Possibly even a transparent icon indicating server downtime that slowly fades in and out of the center of the screen to accompany the announcement afterwards. |
