Right now, at all levels, if you get scanned without a dampener/dampening skill, you show up on the other teams radar, and through walls as a chevron, and they can see which way you're even looking. That sounds fine and dandy for a proto scanner ticking someone who isn't dampened at all.
Instead, scanners should show enemy positions, but not their exact placement on the map, and which way they are looking (god, being able to see which way someone is looking is so OP). Have it be a general direction red blurry glow of differing sizes. Then as your scanner level increases, the accuracy of the scan increases. At the same time, the more you have dampened, the less precise your scan feedback shows. And there should be ABSOLUTELY NO seeing people through walls. In any game. Ever.
A good comparison for what I'm thinking for the radar is a photoshop style gaussian blur. For an example of what that is: http://www.eversparkinteractive.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/gaussian-blur-thumbnail.jpg So you can see that enemies are "over that way", but you can't pin point their exact standing position, and which way they are facing. Scale back this whole "I see you, now you're dead immediately" gameplay that's going on now.
Thoughts? Good idea, bad idea? |

If you're going to give up an equipment slot for a scanner then you should be able to see chevrons through walls. Sorry, I disagree.
Oh and CCP, don't forget that vehicle active scanners are active scanners as well. Give them the same love. |

I think that they really shouldn't mess with something that's been around since the Beta, and maybe before then, too (I had access to the Closed Beta but didn't realize it :/).
P.S. Just to be clear, I'm talking about seeing which way people are facing on the map.
But IMO, these two suggestions are good ideas, but it should be one or the other, not both combined. |

I agree: no seeing directional facing of enemies unless you have visual on them. |
