I am currently getting bitten by this issue personally. Not having dealt with this sort of thing before, I just equipped a 30day active booster, AND a 30day passive booster, to the same char. I have now pretty much wasted one of them by this. In my opinion, the game should basically just not LET you equip a 7+day booster of both types, at the same time. At minimum, it should give you really ugly warnings before allowing it.
I already attempted to contact support via email, they said, "Unfortunately, once a booster has been activated and started to count down, it cannot be removed from a character and allowed to be redeemed to a different character/account"
I'm rather irked about this.
For those unclear on the issue, the problem is because of the weekly SP cap. My math may be a little off, but here's my numbers. Weekly cap is 190,000
If I did nothing but set passive SP on an alt char, it would collect 168,000SP in a week (7 * 24000) Equipping the passive booster would make that 168k+84k= 252k.. except that's over cap. So I could actually set a 7day passive booster for 5 days, which would give that char around (120k + 60k bonus) = the cap, roughly speaking. Then I could swap passive SP to my SECOND alt, and give that char 24x2= 48k free SP for the week. Thus, optimal use of a 7day passive SP booster, allows for (skipping some steps)72k bonus SP in a week extra gain.
Similarly, on the active booster side, if you can average 4k SP per match, and 4 matches per hour, you can hit your SP cap in around 10 hours of playing. For a happy player, that's one day on a weekend's worth of play. It results in approximately 64K worth of "free" SP from the active booster.
I hit my cap very quickly on the weekend, actively playing. So I no longer get any benefit from having passive SP set on that char. This means that I miss out on , best case, 3 days worth of passive SP booster that I have left, over the 7day period. 12x3= 36,000 SP points.
(But really, I missed out on 72k, because I would have gotten the full benefit of the active booster, playing, and could/should have equipped the passive booster on a different char)
This is a huge loss to me... and it's a loss of merchandise that I bought with real money !! (and I got a 30 day booster, not just a 7 day, so I'm missing out on roughly 256,000 SP I could have gotten!!)
So please... fix the UI to not allow this kind of shoot-yourself-in-the-foot behaviour. (and if you're feeling extra nice, maybe give me some aurum credit so's I can get a passive booster for my others char like it should have gotten? :) ) |

Yes, this is how it works.
It has always worked this way.
If you want to play more than one character then start another PSN account, play DUST from there. Then Passive SP will work on it as well. It is the best solution as a second PSN account only requires another email address, as far as I know.
Also, your analysis is flawed.
Active Booster will raise your SP Cap by 50% while active.
Passive Booster will raise the amount of Passive SP gained and there is no other way to gain that SP. It is the most expensive SP in the game, true. But it is the Only way to get it.
Putting two Boosters on one character is the best way to maximize their gain. And it is best to always Cap out every week once the Active is enabled.
Having two characters on one PSN account is a waste. The Alt is blocked from Passive SP.
Also, do not switch passive SP to the current alt. The Passive Booster will stay with the first character and you Will Lose SP.
Welcome to the DUST. |

I think either you didnt understand what I wrote, or you're not understanding something about dust. If you only have 1day or 3 day boosters, maybe. But as I just pointed out, with a 7day passive booster, you will cap out on that char *DOING NOTHING*. So any additional booster, or even playing a match, is wasted effort as far as SP gain.
I capped out my main char on my PSN account, really quickly, after buying the active booster. Within about 1 day of playing, after putting on the booster. On a saturday.
If i had instead put the passive booster on one of my alts, and then enabled passive on that... I would have been able to cap out both chars for the week, EASILY. Now, it will take much more grinding. Although with the daily login bonus, happily it will hit the cap 48,000SP quicker than otherwise.
I hear what you are saying about multi PSN ids. Drawbacks to that, however, are: 1. I dont like managing multiple emails 2. I dont like managing multiple PS3 logins. The switch time is quite slow. In contrast, switching between alts on the same PSN id is relatively fast now. yay 3. Shared pool of aurum, if you like buying in bulk. 4. if you buy a game pack, like I did, you can then put one booster on one char, and one on a different char. This is what I SHOULD have done.

you dont understand how the SP cap works and thats why your upset.
the cap you mentioned is just for your ACTIVE SP
passive SP is seperate and never caps out, it just accumulates at a steady pace.
also boosters arnt limited by your cap.
they basically extend your cap past that 190k mark effectivly giving you 280ish for your active SP
the total SP you earn in a week is well over the 190k mark, its about double that without boosters and tripple that with boosters.
you can earn almost 600k a week with boosters |

if you want to see evidence of this check your SP
write down the number of your SP and your remaining cap (updates screen will tell you your cap and show your your daily bponus wich is also seperate from your cap)
wait till you get 10 more SP passivly
you will notice your cap hasnt gone down by 10 SP.
as for the active booster do the same but go into battle and earn SP, take not of your unboosted SP earned and your boosted SP
then take note that your remaining cap has been redused by the unboosted SP gained rather then the boosted SP gained. |

Oh! I see that passive SP is indeed still increasing. Thanks for pointing that out!
However.. I think there is still a loss involved, albeit a smaller one.
passive SP can go OVER the cap.. but doesnt it still contribute towards the cap initially?
In other words, cap resets on wednesday.. i start playing on saturday... meanwhile, my char has accumilated somewhere in the neighbourhood of 60k(with booster) SP, passively.
Therefore, dont I now only have the capability of earming 190k-60k SP, actively?

No. Only Active SP will count towards the cap, not passive sp. |

Hm. then they really should label their junk cleaner.
ie: "active SP bonus remaining", not "SP bonus remaining".
Wouldnt hurt to have a place to view the "active SP bonus remaining" other than the end of a battle, either. |

nope they are completly seperate
the only caped SP is active gains.
passive SP has its own seperate cap based on it being a time based thing but they cap that you see when playing is ONLY the active portion of your SP not counting Booster gains |
