Pretty much what the title says.
Officer weapons are extremely rare, so rare that have no really use for me. In the last 3 months I didn't find any Officer Assault Rifle, instead I found 9 Officer HMG and 6 Officer Forge Guns, which are completely useless for my character.
Not only I'm not able to restock them fast enough to use 1 of 2 of them in the critical moments of a PC match, but sometimes I can't find them at all (for months).
Actually, the only use I can see for them is to suddenly pull out one of them in a low level public match for my birthday and live it up to celebrate the special event.
The only exception is the Thale, which is an infamous pubstomping tool. A good sniper dies once in a blue moon, so you can actually consider using a Thale... but still not in PC (I guess).
I believe this exaggerated rarity actually promotes pubstomping (using them in public matches), because it's obvious you're gonna die in a PC match... and lose multiple copies of your un-godly rare weapon.
Yes, many players are terrified to use them in public matches as well, but this is the only use I can imagine for them. |

it's messed up in my entire career including beta I have found a grand total of 24 thales.
on the flip side I have 78 krins, 46 balacs, 80+ gastun mins, 60+ of the other gastun.
it's rare I find a single player how has actually found a lot of the gun they use, maybe they lopside the drop rate on purpose so you can't get the gun you want.
they lowred the drop rate on these 5 months ago saying they had a plan for something....all I know is it's been a very boring 5 months with no officer weapon drops which used to be the highlight of a match if you found a rare drop, now I don't even bother looking cause I know I won't find anything. |

With the hate snipers have been getting from CCP lately, I don't even take out my Thale (down to less than 5) in emergencies anymore. I used to use it to counter-snipe stubborn A-holes, but now it's not even worth using for that. |

They said that they wouldn't change it again until the player market so that by the time the player market opens up you don't have a million officer weapons everywhere. |

I got like 200 of each Plasma Rifle throughout my alts and main, and I can't use a single one. There needs to be a shotty ofc weapon so a can do a trade. Or I'll sell them at 120k per weapon (that's what CCP decided to price them at). |

Well said. Right now you don't have enough of the things you want, but probably have a surplus of things you don't want. Assuming this is roughly true for everyone, then when the market opens up, things should probably be fairly balanced. Tweaking this before then could really screw things up later with a flood of officer stuff into the market.
Just treat officer stuff as gold, and only use it in the most urgent of situations, during the most important of fights. |
