Evati V/ Aldodan Constellation/ Metropolis Region Boundless Creation Factory Complex Perimeter Outskirts
It was on the second day of the garrison mission that telltales began to light up along the perimeter of the Boundless Creations factory, a momentary scan reading that quickly receded into nothing, the sentries responded appropriately but found no intruders. Temba was ill at ease nonetheless, the MCC was operating at 100% shields and armor, and the space above was watched by cloaked picket ships that took an accounting of every ship that came and went through the jump gates, he still had 108 fully operation clones at his disposal and a modest supply of armored vehicles. The victor of a clone soldier battle has the added benefit of salvaging the field of contest, and his supply of light and heavy man portable weapons had increased, he was even fortunate enough to have extracted an opponent's Thale sniper rifle before if was buried beneath the slowly falling dust that constantly swirled down from the canyon rim. The shattered remains of both friend and foe littered the aftermath of every fight and Temba's men were being trained as salvage specialists, almost every fallen fighter could yield parts suitable for reconfiguration even if only a boot or a gauntlet, once the grisly task of removing the human remains was finished. Ganksters Inc had grounded four platoons of recruits that had just begun their training to qualify to become clone soldiers and they were bivouacked in pop up portable tent structures near both roadways that accessed the factory complex, tasked with sentry duty and salvage sweeps they were kept busy 18 hours out of every 24 hour cycle. The recruits had not yet qualified for full combat armor and wore only the boots, gauntlets, helmet, and powered exoskeleton that accustomed their bodies to the realities of externally powered mobility, walking, running, or fighting in a combat drop suit was far more complicated then just putting it on and powering up the armor.
A squad of recruits discovered a quickly vanishing trail of fresh boot prints being filled in by the dust fall that led up towards the canyon rim after responding to a routine scan alert indication of man sized movement and a faint electronics trace within range of a perimeter sensor, clearly now they were being watched. The boot print design matched those used on Gallente scout armor, but this fact proved nothing of the identity of the wearer, clone soldiers routinely used dropsuits from every and any manufacturer depending on it's field application, their skill level, and need. It was indeed a common, albeit disturbing site, to see a full squad of Minmatar clone soldiers in Amarr heavy combat dropsuits deploying from Gallente LAVs to support a Caldari HAV on any battlefield, the instruments of death and destruction cared not at all for who wielded them or for what cause they were employed.
For the duration of the garrison mission Temba assigned three veteran fully armored mercenaries to accompany every recruit squad that responded to perimeter alerts, and by the sixth day they had no more intrusions within the range of the perimeter sensor scans. Temba had spent 48 hours high up in the scaffolding of the central tower complex with his Thale sniper rifle, and heavily dampened medium Minmatar dropsuit in the hope he might intercept the intruder before being spotted himself but his vigil proved fruitless as the ghost of their perimeter vanished into the swirling dust storms that rolled endlessly across the surface of Evati V high along the canyon rim. Temba could feel the eyes of the intruder on him and waited for him to make his move, a sniper sort of develops a sixth sense for when he has been spotted and survival often meant rapidly repositioning when you felt compromised. But with the intruder shrouded by the swirling dust storms above the rim Temba instead ignored that gnawing itching sensation of being targeted and held his position. It was only after the Boundless Creations security personnel arrived did Temba relinquish his perch.
The director of security wore a law enforcement grade version of powered armor and extended a gauntlet to shake hands with Temba, GÇ£General Fusrodah it is a pleasure to meet the man who so handily defeated the attackers.GÇ¥ Temba responded and shook the hand of the director, GÇ£I command good men, and our strategic battle plan survived contact with a skillful heavily armed determined opponent, that is always a positive and fortuitous occurrence.GÇ¥ Temba continued as the director nodded his head in the affirmative, GÇ£We have had intermittent scanner hits along the perimeter I suspect a spotter has had this factory complex under observation for some time, but with the forces contracted to defend and then hold the factory until your arrival I could not expand the perimeter as far as I would have been comfortable doing under these climatic and terrain conditions. Someone else still has an interest in this factory director.GÇ¥ The director scanned the canyon walls up to the rim before speaking, GÇ£Thank you for that honest assessment general, perhaps I'll be seeing you again soon.GÇ¥ |
