I don't know what game you're playing but people squad up a lot. The issue is the players in a tiny corp or a starter corp. Those guys a frequently running solo.
The fix is easy too. Just join a corps pub channel (#Sand Castles for example) the the LFS channel and type in LFS. Other than teaching them what to do you just have to hope that they are less than totally incompetent.

They are the laziest and down right most disappointing faction to fight since they rarely fight back... barring a number of corps who do fight back its easy wins and I whole heartedly wish FW in dust would have more impact on the over war because quite simply if it did the Matari would already be enslaved. |

I've only joined squads in the war barge... it seems I'd have to join a relatively serious corp to get any value from it. |

SQUADS SUCK!!!!! I make WAY MORE running solo! Not to mention get my team into battle the QUICKEST way possible! Most people wont join squads because they want to use my 3 second drop links! :) I PAY TO WIN! I have also noticed most of the squads that do form, have NO MICS! Mic players usually stick together "unsquaded"! Just my worthless 2 cents. |

Why does no one squad up Because it costs money to talk in game, and then nobody listens, thus waste of time and money.

A lot of people back then simply never realised there was an options menu with a way to turn voice chat on, and when they didn't hear other players, and weren't heard by others, and saw items that enabled voice chat in the market for AUR, they assumed that you have to pay for voice in-game, which you don't. |

I don't squad up anymore because it's broken. Squadmates get left behind or glitched out some way too many times it's just not worth it. :( |

UVTs were so long ago, I just had to wrack my brain to even remember what they were called. And they weren't even necessary, lol. |

You used to have to buy an AUR item to talk in corp chat. This didn't apply to squads or team chat though so Richard must not have really understood the function of the item. That being said UVT (universal voice trasnmitters) are a thing of the past. Once Chomosome hit they disappeared and all of us who bought them got our AUR refunded.
Currently there is no reason why anyone would leave voice chat turned off. Even if you don't have a mic it should be turned on so you can here squad mates.
Mics are an essential element of any successful corp/team/squad in this game and ignoring voice chat will simply relegate you to being nearly usless on the battlefield. |

Because some people just pick up the game, turn on their mic, and assume that voice chat is on by default. Now it IS on by default, but when the game was still in beta, you had to turn it on in the options menu. A lot of players never bothered to look into the options menu, assumed that the lack of working voice chat was because the game doesn't have voice chat, then got really offended when they saw UVTs in the marketplace.
Part of the problem is that having voice default to off was a really horrifically bad idea, and the other part of the problem is that people are stupid. |

When I play by myself, I just randomly hop into squads in warbarge and if it seems our squad does well, I stay for a little while. It's great way to meet new people and see how they play. No matter what corp they are in.
I used to run alone, but now increasingly I've been using this tactic. |
