...who finds the Gallente Assault Dropsuit having a shield bonus absolutely useless?
As a former Eve-Online player, I began to ponder what the Megathron or a Deimos would be like with a shield bonus that would never be utilized. It's essentially a useless bonus for the Gallente. I've been really enjoying Dust since 1.3 and logging some serious game time, but I don't really have any solid complaints. Just this one observation. I still intend on rocking my G/1 Series even with its gimped shield bonus. Perhaps I'm just missing the point?
Keep up the hard work CCP!

well in dust you dual tank so shield bonus isn't so bad... but it also doesn't seem the best bonus for gallente. |

Gallente suits have the highest tank. Second only to Heavies with the current state of affairs with ARs and Scramblers about.
Dual-tanking gallente suits are actually quite lethal thanks to the armor buff.
They die hard.
But you are correct, the shield bonus is useless for it. Minmatar and Caldari suits need that bonus. Amarr not so much, they can do with or without. Gallente is the odd fish here. |

I haven't dual tanked and don't intend too, even if that meant I would constantly be at a disadvantage. If everyone is dual tanking that should indicate something by itself, perhaps that the modules which provide no tanking bonuses aren't enticing enough or worth using. I'm not so sure that is the case though. Personally, I prefer running damage mods and some type of armor tank and it has been working out great for me.
The racial bonuses on each race's assault dropsuit look spot-on, just the assault dropsuit bonus of shields across the board for everyone makes no sense. It would make more sense to give assault dropsuits a dmg bonus to each level, or a reduction in dmg taken to each level. This balances out more or less even across the board, whether a user is shield tanking, armor tanking, or if they are doing both. My suggestions leave other classes of dropsuits like heavies and lights out of the equation which I feel should be noted. It is just two examples off the top of my head of bonuses that are equal regardless of the racial dropsuit used. Nothing says that both bonuses can't be tailored to each race's dropsuit either I don't think?
Still... having said all that I'm really enjoying the game.

naw that sound right and totally intended for normal purposes just like the Sentinels bonus is feedback reduction while the Amarr heavy is reloading. makes complete sense for all Sentinels to have feedback reduction while only the Amarr get the reloading bonus. |
