I'm not a great pilot when it comes to dropships, but I know what would make the ship itself more useful.
Bombing bays are one of the first uses of aircrafts in wars, right after spying. There are many possible uses when it comes to bombs. You can drop remote explosives (useful for traps), maybe some cluster bombs (useful for eliminating large groups of infantry), TEMPs (Tactical ElectroMagnetic Pulse) that may be able to shut down nearby vehicles, and my last suggestion; the TorPEDO (Tactical or Precision Exothermic Detonation Orderer) the TorPEDO has its own section below.
So far, unarguably, tanks are the most powerful mobile entity in the game. I've seen the recent Swarm Launcher buff, but that doesn't seem like it helps against tanks as much as vehicles in general. My TEMP suggestion above could put cork in tanks dominating the whole game. TEMPs would disable ALL (friendly of foe) vehicles within its blast radius from operating for a period of time. It would also disable shields on vehicles while in effect. Because Dropsuits operate on fulmination generators, they are unaffected. The last use of the TEMP is to wipe uplinks off the map. If you manage to hit one or more drop uplinks with your TEMP, those uplinks would be destroyed.
Remote explosives for ships are NOT the same as the wimpy ones infantry carry around. The remote explosives dropped by the drop ship look like small crates. One unit of remote explosive is 8 crates. The blast radius is 3 times that of a basic forge gun. Because these are extremely overpowered so far, nerfs need to be added. To detonate the boxes you need another person in your dropship NOT manning a gun. Only one crate can be detonated every 5 seconds. Crate bombs can be de-fused (hacked) by enemies (4 second hack).
Cluster bombs are a simple weapon. It's just a large group of (nerfed) locus grenades. When deployed, the grenades are dispersed equally throughout an area. That area depends on the height.
You can choose the pack size from 10 to 50 (each grenade takes up 2 CPU and a unit of 5 take 1 PG). The pack size is incremental by 10 for each level of skill you purchase. These grenades will do damage to infantry only.
The final weapon. The TorPEDO. Torpedoes are expensively priced at 70,000 ISK per unit with to aurum version. The skill that allows you to use this massive weapon has one level. This weapon takes 100 CPU and 50 PG for the weapon. The TorPEDO has 2 modes: tactical and precision. Tactical mode will allow you you to lock on to HAVs and turrets. Precision allows you to pick a point on the map and deploy it to there from a remote distance. While using precision mode, the Torpedo will have 'booster' rockets that bring it around 1 KM high, then from there the missile makes it to the target. The power of the torpedo is unmatched by any weapon in the game. It will take out ANYTHING (that's not an MCC) on a direct hit. The blast radius is 50m (yes, that's right 50m). There are some major downsides to the TorPEDO. It's a very slow weapon, moving at 5m/s initially, accelerating at .25m/s^2. Another downside is it is the ONLY bullet in the game that can be locked onto by a swarm launcher . The result of swarms destroying the TorPEDO is having the bullet explode where killed.
Any criticism is welcome.
