Same, 2 Million invested. Not the game changer it used to be. Still helpful for flanking, etc.
If things continue the way they are perhaps a SP X reduction is warranted as its not worth the SP now. |

Oh no it isn't. Combined with armor speed reduction, uh reduction in 1.4. speed tanking is very much alive. Kinetic catalyzers are very useful in all situations IMO. |

They are talking about vibrating back and fourth to avoid bullets. You're talking about using speed tactically instead of CoD: twitch warfare which is what most Dust players do.
Yes speed tanking is useful for anyone with half a brain and flanks and approaches targets strategically. |

Speed tanking ISN'T a tool for dodging fire after being spotted any more. It needs to pair with decent stealth and let you get around to positions the enemy doesn't expect. That way, you're avoiding being scanned rather than just hiding from the scan like a "normal" stealth tank would. In direct combat, speed tanking is far less valuable than it used to be. Speed tanks are good for hit-and-run because they can do the "run" part better than a regular stealth tank, and with a bit of luck and a bit of skill, you can slip through the scanning net and avoid being caught out.
I managed to get a kill and at least 3 assists in the last match I played by relying on this approach. Enemies had a guy scanning the obvious flanking area that a Scout might be in, and I was a little further around the flank than he expected. There was a friendly Scout moving up on the other side, so as the Logi turned towards him with the scanner ready, I Shotgunned him in the back of the head a few times. It drew enemy fire, and I melted pretty fast, but I got a couple of prety blind shots off before dropping, and saw a string of +25s as I was respawning.
And the other Scout managed to get into position behind the entire enemy team, clear out their uplink and start with his own Scanner to keep everyone lit up. |

Equalised Turn Speed. Aim Assist. Sacrificing HP for Speed.
Yep, pretty much is pointless. |

Speed tanking is pointless if you're the kind of person to run out into the open trying to dodge a barrage of plasma bullets. It's still technically useful for flanking in conjunction with plenty of cover to obstruct the bullets. The Gallente research lab, especially within the storage depot, along with the orbital artillery outpost provide lots of cover to run through to shield you from bullets.
Here, scout suits will definitely need the element of surprise. |
