Hello. I don't know if you guys have ever thought about offering a one-time purchasable respec option in the marketplace before. What I was thinking you guys could do would be to put the option on the marketplace for say like 50,000 AUR. Also, this respec could only be bought once during the entire lifetime of the character. I'm sure that many people would love to have the option to respec their sp towards a more focused goal, especially if they were unsure about how sp worked when they started playing the game. I'm just throwing the proposal out there and I hope that you guys can at least take it into consideration.

Purchase on Marketplace 30,000-50,000 AUR or ISK equivalent Can Only Be Bought Once During the Lifetime of Character

I think it should be something like you can purchase a respec once every 6 to 12 months so you still have to live with your mistakes SP-wise but there is hope in the future for fixing it. |

I can completely agree with that as well. I just think that having the ability to respec would be great for those people who messed up their skill tree path and would like another chance. Whether it's one time or bi-annually or something. |

I was thinking more along the lines of 1-10mil ISK to purchase a respec. So its painful, but not impossible.
respecs are kinda mandatory to have. it's INSANE that the only way you can find out "nope, skill X really doesnt work for me, even if I max it out".. is by investing a MONTH or two of consistent play... and then you're screwed 'cause its useless to you.

Thats exactly why I presented this proposal. I think it's incredible that we don't have the option to respec at the cost of some AUR or ISK. |

I know they have said no full respecs, but I think if there has to be effort or financial payment to earn your chance at fixing your mistakes then there is a gain for both the player and CCP.

10 million isk is 4 PC wins. At most. 500 million would be painful, at least until they put in another isk genertor.
Edit: On second thought, if this *HAS* to happen, make it 1-10mil SP. THAT would be painful. |

I want to respec cause I hate having points in sht I dont even need. Like how I have lvl4 light gallente suit but dont need it cause I use lvl 3 scout. That extra lvl could be for something I need like more stam or to upgrade sniper. It takes forever to get 300k sp. I dont have the time. And I dont want to do 30+ battles a day. I dont want to spend money on the game. Cause I am buget stuck atm. No money to spend on games. THATS WHY I LIKE DUST. Its FREE. Not really free if I have to spend money to be competitive. |

Again, the topic crops up.
Two issues.
One. This makes the game P2SITFOTMW (Pay to Skill into Flavor of the month weapons)
Two. It Breaks the skill system in its entirety. This game is DESIGNED to take forever to get a weapon to Proto. Give the option to instantaneously swap SP to another Weapon makes this games life span MUCH shorter.
There are going to be skills you don't need right now. But embrace the fact you have those skills in case you need want to use some gear you don't think you have.
Even Mistakes in Skill System usage can be made into a plus. |

I can see where you're coming from with this statement. And while I personally haven't wasted many skill points in "uneeded" skills, it's the reason I mentioned making it a one time only respec. I appreciate your position though and do agree that it could be used as a game-shortener.

Yup they said no.
True.
But that doesnt mean they wont change their mind in the future, since a LOT of the playerbase is requesting for it, and yup, guess what makes a game successful ? THEIR PLAYERBASE.
So people dont be afraid of anti respec brosefs here , keep asking, and maybe CCP will understand is a necesity for this kind of game. |

Yeah i can agree one a ONE-TIME respec for AUR. A game in this type of depth which means extensive knowledge in the game mechanics in order to fully understand what type of character you are and how you'd like to fight. However if you put SP into a skill that you realize doesn't help you much it's pretty upsetting and makes it hard to really get into a game where SP is crucial and wasting that time is a lesson hard learned. However, I think everyone deserves a second chance but only 1 SECOND CHANCE. It can't be abused since you can only do it once. Therefore someone realizing a bad path can change and be able to start over with now a FULL understanding of what they need to do. Having optional respecs every 6-12 months CAN and WILL be abused. You should live with mistakes but a second chance would not hurt especially to new players.
How about when the flaylock was OP! If optional respecs; one could invest into the FoTM weapon knowing full well they can get out if its nerfed. However a One-Time respec could save them from that but shame on them if they invest into another FoTM weapon again.
A lot of resources is devoted if CCP has to reset a character so you should have a minimum amount of SP before you can respec i say at least 5 million SP. I think that gives new players a decent amount of time to learn about the game and have enough SP to shift things around instead of wasting a reset at lets say only 1 million and calling a respec in panic. |

I actually like your idea about having a minimum SP total that you must have before you have access to the option. This makes it so you have to actually play through the game numerous times and make sure you actually want to devote your time into it.

Well I think it would be nice to have an optional respec after every 10 million skill points. This will be good if you don't the spec you have selected this gives you plenty of time to work out what works best for you, and if your fed up with that build it gives you something other to aim for because in another 10 Million skill points you can try something else.
This would be more reason to purchase more boosters |

Many people that are anti-respec just don't understand that there are still many skills that simple DO NOT WORK, or are completely useless.
If CCP had the sense to offer skill respecs for that, why can't you?
I'm in support of respecs, just not right now. Later when more equipment content is released. It would make more sense then. People can skill into some of the new equipment, and CCP can better monitor the metrics behind new gear, and balancing it.
So many pros to having a regular skill respec. |

Agreed. I am at 4.5 million SP at the moment.. which isn't a lot compared to the 15mil SP players I corp with and play against.
When I first started this game I had a friend get me into it... he is a heavy... which I hate. Off the bat he told me to dump all starting SP and whatever I earned into heavy machine gun... rapid reload... and a bunch of other crap I don't use one bit now. After playing a few weeks I came to the realization that I like sniping and running around with an assault gun... All the SP that was dumped into heavy suits and heavy guns are useless to me now because it took me dumping 1mil SP into some crap he suggested to figure out what I liked. (My ******** fault for not learning about the game beforehand but compared to most first person shooters... there is a steep learning curve at the very beginning of this game.
If i could respec one time for Aurem... I'd pay for it... now that I have reached the area of the 5mil SP requirement you suggest.. I have learned enough about the game to know skill trees that I should focus on or at least a general direction.
Either way.. I have spent more on this game than I ever thought I would... DAMN YOU CCP! |
