Yesterday I was aiming at a building entry, and I got 2 red chevrons for 2 enemy guys BEHIND the wall, in the 1st floor (door was at ground level).
They were NOT scanned, since they were not blinking.
How is that "sensing" called? Is that the normal passive scan radius that I have? That is normally around my suit and while I sniper it is around the spot that I aim for? Or how does that mechanic work? |

Dunno what its "called", but it seems to *work* similarly to suit's passive scanning. Or any other weapon's hotspot scanning. Switch weapons, and you'll notice similar hotspot behaviour.. just only out to around 100m, rather than the sniper rifle's 500m longer-range weapons, have longer hotspot range than 100(or is it 125m? it depends). but there arent many of them. One is the scrambler rifle. (note: rifle, not pistol)
Also, note that pulling up the sights, helps a little, but almost not noticably.
If, for example, you pull up an SMG, you'll see that it gives you the most info, when your target is in range of the weapon-mounted hud/reticule

I've been noticing some odd blips on radar, as well.
As best as I can tell, there are certain actions you can take that cause your tag to show up on enemy HUDs. It could be shooting a ton, it could be hacking something, I don't know.
It's usually a short blip, but whenever I hunted it out anyway, I found a red up to something or another who was very surprised to meet the business end of my HMG.
My other theory is that there's still some sort of shared team vision going on, but it lasts for a much shorter amount of time. That, or TAC-NET is buggy in very interesting and occasionally useful ways. |
