Someone I was in a squad with made a sound point today, and it really made sense:
If the Forge Gun is described as being an Anti-Vehicle weapon, why is it so effective against infantry?
Swarm Launchers, AV Grenades, and Proximity Mines are all weapons that are described as anti-vehicle weapons and none of them are used to damage infantry.
Throw an AV grenade/cook it too long It wont damage you (I've tried); Swarm Launchers don't lock onto infantry; and walk over proximity mines and they wont explode. Yet, the Forge Gun, probably the King of all AV weapons, is the one that does SERIOUS damage against infantry. I think we could all agree that people use Forge Guns more against Mercs than actual vehicles.

Well it does fire a slug at hypersonic speeds, it doesn't matter whether you are a tank or a person that thing will shred you with pin point accuracy. That is what it is lore wise and what it should be doing. I however thing the AoE should be vastly less than a large rail gun and the damage should also be less than a large railgun.
Basically it should be a pin point accurate AV weapon, akin to a portable rail gun however at a lesser damage.
And no they do not. They use them more against Tanks than infantry. Take it from a guy who spend 8 months running around on foot and is now a tanker. |

I think AOE weapons need a scaling damage from the epicenter of the blast rather than full slash damage from just being 1cm inside the zone. |

No Kings here. We're the Forge Gunner Master Race as decreed by an non-heavy some time ago.
Any-hoo CCP has stated the Forge Gun is operating as intended against infantry. This discussion has already been extensively covered. Anything repeated here would be little more than beating dead horse. |
