I think the blabla...
Im just kidding i just wanted your attention. I dont think A.Scanners are OP....
BUt on all serious business: 1-Active scanners are really cheap SP wise and they counter profile dampening pretty well.I think they should be a little bit more SP expensive since now that they are working they totally break the Dampening / scan war. I understand that 1 equipment slot is punishment enough, but not for logis, which sadly, are about 40% of the merc population.
2-The COST of SP in order to be able to COUNTER a active scanner , is just way to big. Being the PROTO scouts the only ones being able to do this, WITH proto profile dampeners included. All to counter a quantum ADV scanner. So either lower dampening skill cost , or increase the scanners SP cost.
3-EVEN if you DO have prof dameping LOW enough with your scout, its still pointless and here is why: a) As soon as someone even blinks at you ,you are gonna be dead since you already wasted 2-3 of your miserable 5 slots on profile dampeners, and your scout EHP is laughable at the point that my Drop uplinks have more HP than me. b) The message : Scan Prevented (or whatever it says) is more than enough to know the general location of a scout. SO >!?!>!!> WTH? whats the point if i can scan in the general area, even if it says Scan prevented and i dont know the exact location i can still spam flux/cores to flush enemies out, or a mass driver. Squad up and get in the objective , etc...? the fact is , knowing a scout is there is more than enough.
Thoughts?
My overall point is CCP should tweak the active scanner so its more effective scanning enemiy mid/heavy frames and vehicles but less effective at scanning scout suits, unless its proto and the scout DOES NOT Have a proto prof dampener. |

I think the active scanner should be operate on some sort of multiplier based off of suit scan precision. Considering that the information it is feeding you gets processed by our dropsuits. That should help things a bit. |

That seems like a good option , yup. The problem is , im getting scanned by Quant ADV Active scanners with my Proto Minmatar with 1 Prof Damp... WTH? The amount of SP i've spent in order to achieve my scan profile is at least 8 times the SP used by my enemy for the active scanner.(or in this case, a friend that helped me test the active scanners vs profile dampening) |

The better way to go about this for scouts is to reduce the base profile of the scouts to about 40 dB rather than the current 45 dB we have now. That and the fact that the scouts need more pg and cpu so that can fit a little better with profile dampeners while not sacrificing too much for say... damage or defense. |

Nope, make them more expensive and then they are useless. Better yet why not buff the scout a little bit, say: 40 dbi and 9m/s That way you can run the f*** off and evade the ADV active scanners.

Agreed. I don't care if they make profile dampening cheaper or active scanners more expensive, they just need to be balanced

I know what you mean by the 'Scan Prevented' message popping up; I have never actually been successfully scanned (Gallente Scout V, Profile Dampening IV). However, I am not sure whether or not it appears for the user of the Active Scanner. If anything, it alerts the person who was scanned they are in danger. If it does tell the user of the scanner the same message, then we may have a problem. |

Hopefully when they add player dropped installations, some type of e-war will counter scanners. |

1 scanner is more than enough to get you killed: As a scout that we ALREADY have profile dampening as skill bonus PLUS having invested and equipped profile dampener, we should have the edge.
At proto scout level with 1 proto profile dampener, Scouts shouls be undetected, even with proto active scanner.
i mean, its all we've got. |

i mean, its all we've got. Max skills, and 1 of any dampener makes a scout invisible to all but the very top (15 dB) scanner. In my opinion, that's alright. The number of people using it now is so small, that they deserve to scan me if they have it. |

I really dont think they deserve to scan you, even with a proto scanner. I mean if you are proto scout, with proto profile dampening yu shouldnt get scanned. I mean thats your dropsuit BONUS for f***s sake...

Apparently, the scanner tells you if it missed something (a scout for instance) so you know some scout is there. THAT IS MESSED YO
Make active scanners finite in their detection, draw a line on what is detected at all. Give no results for things below it's precision. I will have to try these buggers and see for myself but damn. |

As an avid user of the scanner and am member of this so called 40% logi population I agree that scouts should be able to counter the scanner.
My idea is that the scanner user should be able to detect a presence and a radius where the person is but not a pinpoint location.
Furthermore, I think that the exposure time could be dropped for scouts, mabye half of the duration time of the scanner for scouts with dampening.
The Scanner is really developed to pinpoint the majority of the players out there who aren't using dampeners and are in the fight, not the scouts that are sneaking around the sides in order to flank the enemy.
Scouts should be able to defeat the scanner if they have spec'd into the right skills at the right price. Same should be said for my scanner, if i proto everything out i better be able to pick up damn near everything out there.
Keeping with the dynamics of gameplay, I do believe scouts should be able to snoop around the map undetected but... at a cost. You can't have armor, speed and stealth that is the purpose of requiring dampening modules so that scouts don't buff up, get bottles and stealth their way around the map. Buff scout, Fast Scout or Ninja Scout, only get to be one...

YES!!! scouts do need a BIG buff to scan profile, where an ADV scout will be immune to an ADV active scanner without the skill bonuses (as in make the scan profile 1 less than the regular ADV) and the STD can only beat the STD scanners (again only the most basic) and a proto can avoid a proto scanner (yet again, only the most basic) I feel this will help scouts A TON!!!
or major nerfs to the active scanner to make it unusable .
[EDIT] this is assuming theres no bonuses, skills, ect just gear level since scouts deserve to not get picked up by scanners as they should be stealthy, not the currently moving +50. |

Active scanners don't easily pick up scouts. The ones that do are expensive.
If a scout throws on even one good profile dampener he's invisible to all except protoscanners. |

As I said before, max skills and even 1 militia dampener and you are invisible to all but the very top scanner. I also repeat my feelings that I am alright with being scanned by anyone who invested enough SP to be able to use it. |

It's not just any proto scanner, it's the Duvolle focused AS.
The quantum or any other proto scanner wouldn't be able to ping a scout, and I believe that'll be a much needed counter to the cloaks whenever CCP adds them in.
And the active scanner is not OP, I've only ever killed one person with it. It was fun to use it as a club, though. |

not sure if you botherd checking the scanner's out in the market place but there is only 1 scaner whit a scan of 15db and it has the shorthest range of em all so your prety much in line of sight or behind a wall if it does scan you scanners not expensive enof? lvl 2 and lvl4 dont unlock anything meaning you prety much are forced to get lvl 3 for a beter scanner that scan profile dampened pasive boosted suit's from lvl 3 to 5 you need over 700K sp if that isent much just to unlock the final tier then i dont see why your complaining dampening your suit is cheaper in comparison cause you get pasive bonus + unlock module's geting scanner lvl's doesent give you a bonus on the active scanner the cooldown quatum scaners is enof to give you time to vanish and kill your enemy's especaily on the proto type lvl scanner's the prototype variants arent even that good Same range (-) Same angle (-) Same time on radar (-) longer scan time (-------) so it takes longer to scan meaning your eazy picking's cause you cant shoot back the beter range scanner has same db as advanced so you can hide from it if you take the efort of using profile dampers if you dont take a efort in trying to counter it whit avaible skill's/module's and stil complain about it wel its like saying taking a dip in a acid bath shudent melt your body
ccp basicly force's ppl to use the scanner cause they removed squad pasive scanner visoin so you are forced to scan them so your alies know where to shoot i understand your team doesent sees your pasive suit scanner signals but your sqaud where your neocom hud is integrated just sounds foolish to me same whit the health of sqaud members your suit's are contected via a high tech interface its only logical they are integrated aswel ccp loves logic i asumed but seems im wrong there
a way to fix the scanners wuild be to put more variant whit specific role's and actualy make them do difrent thing's not like the curent one's where you got several doing the same stuf whit just longer scan time longer scan time for beter db or longer on radar wuild seem logical not shorter scan time for longer on radar as one or two variants are right now that i can agree to needs some adjusting |
