Now, this may seem like a stupid question, but I assure you I'm not an idiot.
I know intellectually how to avoid death, but somehow I still keep dying. As far as I'm concerned, I'm completely covered on all sides from enemy fire and somehow get shot at and die. It's seriously like I'm a death magnet, which is my main downfall in this game. I have improved a lot since I first started, but still wish to be a better player. I don't want to be the reason my team loses a match or my corporation loses a tournament or planetary conquest. I want to be the reason we win.
People will shoot at me from far away and still manage to kill me, which I don't understand how I'm in their range at that point. It's ridiculous and needs to stop. I do a lot of work, but all of that seems like I'm doing nothing with the amount of times I die. At least half of my deaths might as well have been suicides. I don't know how I keep finding myself in these situations when I do my best to avoid them. Any advice would definitely be appreciated.

I don't have the money to keep destroying my dropships... I suck at driving them.
Also, what are you playing at? Besides the fact that I suck at driving them, I can't drive and shoot in a dropship at the same time and would basically do nothing the entire battle which is definitely not something I would even consider. |

Yeah, I have my weaponry skills in sniping up to level 5 and use the charge sniper rifle. I'm actually quite good at sniping, but sniping isn't great for every map so I really would like to be a logi for the most part. |

Just run to the extreme left or right. Flank that sucker. And never run alone.
I liked you as soon as I read, "Flank that sucker." Thank you for the advice. |

Currently in this new patch the aim assist is a tad on the high side making weapons like the AR able to kill you quickly. Could you tell me what kind of loadout you run? Or what kind of role you want to play on the battlefield? Because you don't have to be the person with the highest KDR. You could be a logi, etc.
I'm good at sniping, but would like to be a logi because not all maps are great for sniping. I liked dropping uplinks, reviving people, and hacking. I love killing people, but do not enjoy dying... |

Sniping can be a surprise, especially if you are running or jumping and we can nail you.
We also pick people off when they are milling around in CQC, so if you have been recently attacked by reds but they have run away, my shot might be the nail in your coffin.
Maybe you're just having a crappy couple of games?
Maybe lag?
Anyway, I hope you can sort it out.

What do you mean CQC? No, actually when I first started the game I was screwing around and was basically dying 20 or more times a match even though I was killing people. So, I have definitely improved, but I'm still not the best that I could be. I will say that I've been getting myself killed by accidentally switching weapons lately and the glitch where you're suddenly running in a different place has gotten me killed on more than one occasion, which is really quite annoying. Thank you for the advice. :) |

Profit Dude he cannot afford to do that unless he wants to shield tank that Amarr suit..... anyone who shields tanks Amarr is pitiable.
Also, I don't know if you're referring to me or not, but I am definitely not a dude. |

Oh my god, no lie there. I was on a roof sniping and all of a sudden I'm getting shot at. I immediately get up and turn around. All I see is a blueberry on the roof with me so I shake it off and go back to sniping. All of a sudden I'm pushed off of the roof and fall right where a bunch of enemies are.... safe to say I died. Too bad I never got the name of that *******. I would track him down. LOL |

Garrett Blacknova wrote:Wherever possible, travel with a group. Check behind the group on a regular basis, and watch for flank attacks. Use the minimap to see where your teammates are facing, and try to cover any gaps in their line of sight.
If you hear gunfire, look around and find the source asap, UNLESS it's hitting you. As soon as you take damage, move into cover. Make sure you put a wall between yourself and the direction the shot came from. Once you're in cover, assess the threat as well as possible - how many hits did you take, could you tell the weapon type, how much damage did the shooter deal? You can often get a good idea of the weapon tier and/or how many damage mods they have.
Once you're familiar with the various weapons and their effective ranges, you can often narrow down the attacker's distance and estimate their position quite accurately. With the rebalancing of ranges in 1.4, most players aren't doing this yet, but it probably won't take long for some of us. Taking cover also gives your shield recharge time to kick in, and lets your armour repair if needed (and you have an armour repairer).
If the enemy is close enough to light up on your passive scans, keep them in sight, use the minimap to see where they're going, and if they don't seem to know where you are, exploit that fact to get behind them. If they're tracking you as well, try to lure them into a situation where you have backup, or at least into a range that favours your weapons.
As mentioned, any time it's an option, FLANK. If you see the "you have been scanned" notification, assume the entire enemy team is moving on your position, and try to lead them off-course before reversing direction when the scan fades.
Great Advice! I haven't even been paying attention to the "you have been scanned" notification. I didn't even know about it until a day or two ago and then forgot about it. I guess my biggest fault on here is my inability to slow down and be more cautious. I'm always running. I guess that's why there's a saying about running into trouble, but nothing about walking into it. Thank you so much for taking the time to help me out. |

I also, needless to say, love killing people, but do not enjoy dying... Then I'd say Amarr logi. They are the most combat focused of the logi roles. Just stack that bad boy up with armour plates. Put an ADV AR or SCR on there and fit it full of equipment. Then stick to the back of the group and behind cover. That way you can rep people coming from the frontline, cover the rear, and put down some cover fire. The suit will have decent tank but little speed.
The only other suits that I use right now besides Starter Fit is Minimatar Light Suit, which I'm not really using currently, Amarr Heavy, and Amarr Medium. I need to save up for an Amarr Logi and then I really want to get a proto. I'm confused on what modules I should buy though (armor plates, precision enhancement, profile dampener, etc). |
