A guns recoil pushes your weapon up, while the aim assist pushes your gun down. Eventually this tug of war will lead your weapon to float over a persons head. Recoil, and aim assist are giving you easy head shots.

I only saw the appearance of this happening on day 1, and other than ZERO-RECOIL Laser Rifle users, am the only person who's commented on it more than once.
I was using a Scrambler Rifle the first time I saw it happen, and I was in the middle of charging a shot with my crosshairs centred on a Heavy suit tracking towards its head, when a Scout ran and jumped behind him right before I pulled the trigger. The Scout never actually got in between the Heavy and my sights, and I would have been aiming about foot-height on the Scout when it passed behind the Heavy. In spite of that, when I released my finger from the trigger, I got that lovely headshot sound and a +50 as the Scout ragdolled out of the sky. The Heavy I had been TRYING to kill was unhurt, so I failed abysmally at what I was trying to do, but it would have been an awesome moment if I'd done it intentionally.
Moral of the story: The charge on a Scrambler Rifle shot doesn't have recoil. |
