So far all I've read are rumours about a Dust514 client for PS4. Something along the lines of "they have the Dev kit" and "they are looking into it".
Does anyone, or even CCP, have any info whether they are actually making a PS4 client?
As an ex-programmer, I can see that memory issues make Dust 514 a difficult game to make work on the PS3, so the extra memory on the PS4 should help... I hope to see this happen. |

No, it wouldn't help. Because the PS3 would still limit them. Even when there's a PS4 version, the only thing they could do is make the graphics better there. But nothing like more or bigger buildings. To really use the resources of the PS4 they would have to stop supporting Dust on PS3. And I can see this happen in maybe 5 years from now. SO don't get your hopes up. Maybe a PS4 version will be released in 3 or 4 years, but it won't change much. |

CCP is probably already has a PS4 version of the game. They're shaking out the bugs and fleshing out Dust "in beta" on PS3 first. But to think that CCP would develop Dust solely on a dated platform that was being replaced soon after their game launched would be folly. CCP knew, from their dealings with Sony, when to forecast and plan for a PS4 launch, which I'm very confident they did. |

Well, all the tiny little things that help so much would be there on the PS4 even when having to drag the PS3 monster with it. Like getting the map instantly, etc etc. |

For all we know they are working on the PS4 version as a secondary thing
They have the dev kit so they can 'copy n paste' to PS4 iron out stuff see how it works and see if the same bugs are replicated etc
Use PS3 as like a testing ground and when its ready move over to PS4 |

The PS4 memory and CPU improvements would make for a much smoother and higher quality game experience. However until they get the server problems ironed out it won't get much better, besides it will realisticly take at least a year for the beta rollout. Don't count on anything until late 2014 at the earliest.
My strategy is to play Dust on the PS3 until I cap and then move over to Planetside 2 on the PS4. Maybe not in that order depending on how Planteside 2 plays. |

I heard Dust 514 will appear on the ps4 when Gaikai comes out in 2014 because the ps3 uses different hardware than the ps4 . |

If this game has any future at all, it has to move to PS4 at some point. In 10 years time we're going to be talking about the PS5 at the absolute latest. They can't be expecting us to keep our 3s readily connected in the meantime. |
