As an AR user, i'm going to go ahead and say the Aim Assist is too much. My AR has become what everyone on the forums has been complaining about. I'm dominating at medium-long distances. It seems to me that once you score a few rounds on a target, the cross hair wants to auto track for fractions of a second. Basically if I can hit someone my gun feels like it locks on and tracks the target with almost no input from me, as long as i'm firing fairly steadily.
In the matches I've played so far (before the servers apparently went down :-( ) I feel like the Aim Assist changes alone would force the general play style of Dust towards a style of heavy emphasis on cover and extremely well though out movement. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but from what I've been seeing with the Aim Assist if you are out in the open and more than 1 dude starts shooting at you, you're going to die extremely quick. I was in a few good ambush matches and the trick seemed to be stick together, use cover, and try to pop around a corner and pick someone off as quick as possible. The distance between two fighting groups seems to have increased a bit. People seem a bit more timid about getting close since everyone using a weapon effected by Aim Assist is waaaaaaay more accurate now.
I was not very good at long range with my AR before 1.4, now as long as I can land 1 or 2 bullets the rest just start connecting. I will go ahead and say the AR is now getting a little.........you know, it's.....uuhhhh......it's getting a little.........look, the Aim Assist is a little much, turn that **** down some. |

Now you know how I feel as a player who has no skill points into guns but plenty into just knives. |

L+¬ Gasp! An AR user that WANTS to nerf their AR!? What is this conception!? L+¬ GASPUH! (Yeah im being that guy).
Now being serious guns like SMG's REALLY needed that aim assist, now we can aim down sight and really drop people, but the SMG's still got a ways to go before it can be a reliable sidearm. But I do understand that for AR's and SCR's in general, it does seem a bit less tedious to kill with those guns, as aside to SR's which I had to lead shoot today around 5pm EST. |
