Where do the members of the CPM stand on the matchmaking changes?
Did any of you warn the DEVs about how bad an idea this was?
Did they not heed your voices or were you in agreement with them?
I would like to know where my fellow players who are also my appointed representatives stand on this game breaking issue.
I hope it is appropriate to request all of the CPM take a public stance on the Matchmaking Changes today or upon their next log in.
Thank you for considering this request. |

Thank you for considering this request. The unfortunate truth is that we weren't shown the details of the matchmaking system in advance. This is all news to us too. Obviously we share the same concerns as everyone else about the lack of direct control over match selection, and will be working with Nullarbor closely the next couple of days to quickly resolve this. We got your back here for sure. o7 |

After a quick chat with CCP Nullarbor what basically happened in testing environment didn't reflect reality which bottom line sounds like it got broken somehow that even if we had far more players it wouldn't have fixed the situation. The good news is there is plenty enough numbers to make the adjustments which are going out into a hotfix very soon and scaling it back a wee bit very very soon.
In the past, I had talked to CCP Nullarbor it was mostly about thoery and not the actual principles which will be likely kept secret as there been games in the past where the players knew of how they were ranked and would purposely throw their games so they can be ranked against weaker opponents, I approved of this concept as it has ruined more than enough game play experiences in the past for myself and others, infamously Halo 2 had it and it was subsequently removed in halo 3 for the very same reasons no need to repeat the mistakes of others. As for the math involved, what gets factored into player skill and ranking are likely a deviation of what the rest of the industry uses.
Unfortunately what we see today is broken, fixes are inbound I'll give another opinion once the hotfix deploys.
Meanwhile stuff like arena ranking would likely be kept separate system in the future and would have highly visible status and reasons why they're ranked because there will be a price for throwing matches. |

I haven't had a chance to actually play 1.4 yet. Jobs ftl :( So, I only have the scores of skype messages and forum posts to base an opinion off of, without any firsthand experience. To this end, I'm not comfortable making a public stance until I actually try it later today.
However, what was presented to us on the new matchmaking early on was essentially "You choose what mode(s) you want to play and then matchmaking 2.0 will stick you in them as soon as it finds a match for you. The backend was changed and such to make matches more fair in terms of who gets placed on each side"
On paper, it sounded nice. From the look of things, it didn't pan out so nicely. |

It's a lot better now, so I think most people are willing to give it more of a chance, now that they can actually get into a game. |

I was greatly honored that three of our CPM representatives took the time to respond to this thread, I am sure during the busy time of this controversial update they had people coming at them from every direction. Nevertheless three still found the time to respond to questions from a single player, class is as class does, good job!
CCP needs to fully inform the CPM of the specific nature of planned changes, I am confident had they did so the first couple of days of chaos and anger could have been avoided. The CPM speaks for us players, CCP please inform them and then listen to their feedback! |
