So I tried out the new aim assist and my god... There's almost no point in trying to aim anymore. Just look in the general direction of someone and spray. I guess in a game where KB/M outshines a controller the only way to fight back is to give aimbot to DS3s.
CCP, you claim to try and take small steps in balancing and yet aiming has gone from sorta difficult but bearable to completely laughably easy. I know the noobs will bash me and love it because now they don't have to worry about aiming, but at upper tiers where skilled players actually manage to be great at aiming without assist, what's the point when everyone can just look at you and kill with the same effectiveness as someone who has learned to aim properly. You've swung the pendulum too far on this one. |

Here's a serious question for peeps using DS3 but not the aim assist.
Any improvement over 1.3? |

I really think part of an aiming issue for a lot of players is that a bit of latency can go a long way to make a great shooter average. If your latency is fluctuating significantly, then when you get used to a bit of latency of a certain amount, then it can be easy to overcorrect when it changes. |

I manage to aim fine without aim assist, but when I tried it today I was baffled at just how much "assist" it provides. It's not assisting in aiming, it's completely taking over your right thumb stick. |

Its an iterative process and it takes every other patch. Expect to see fixes for aim assist in 1.6... Nice thing about Dust is... if things go horribly wrong you only have to wait 8-10 weeks for a patch to fix it!

The fact that I actually took the time to learn to aim is now overshadowed by someone using aimbot---sorry, aim "assist" is ridiculous. I don't want the game taking control of my aim, but when complete noobs now have impeccable aim it makes this game rock-paper-scissors with guns and not a true FPS. |

Yes, there is improvement. It feels like there are less 'dead spots'. Pre - patch I could get get my aim just a tad wrong, and not be able to move it that slight bit, to get it on a stationary target. Now it feels a lot more fluid.
As a side note, aim assist is assisting too much!! |

Yup... My patience has worn out. I've been playing FF14 and quite happy with it. I thing Dust has the makings of being a great game someday, but I'm with you man, burned out and ready to retire. The forums are still fun though! |

thereal Gmofthugga wrote:It's using the same system as BF3 uses, it partially locks on someone. From my experience there's nothing partial about it. It completely takes control of the reticle as long as you see them on your screen. Strafing to dodge bullets is completely ineffective as the reticle just stays on the target the whole time. It turns a sorta skill-based game into who's got the stronger gun and thus do damage faster. We might as well stand in a neat line and open fire a la Imperial-era warfare. |

Personally, after watching you post for many months. A brain assist would be a blessing for you (and not in disguise!). |

There is no aim assist for sniper, FG, or MD. They haven't mentioned grenades, but they aren't a handheld weapon. |
