I went to look for a similar thread but I couldn't find it although I'm sure someone had the same idea and typed it up.
My idea is simple and possibly a bit ignorant of EVE side operations.
Why don't our mercenaries take part in Planetary Interaction for EVE players? Fighting on colonies to either defend or capture them for their contractor. It would make Dust 514 and EVE more interesting and help immerse players into the universe. We can do it only in Null-Sec and only attack certain colony installations(or whatever they're called) which will give CCP the safety net it needs in-case it turns out to do more harm than help.
Of course we'll need contracts but that wouldn't be that much of a problem. There could be mercenary contracts OR Private Contracts.
Planetary Conquest should also be a part of Planetary Interaction. Corporations that own districts can allow players/corporations to place their Colonies on their districts for protection but they will have to pay a fee(Which would include the EVE to Dust tax that's been mentioned) to the district owners every so often.

If anyone has better ideas please make a thread...I only know so much <.<. |

If anyone has better ideas please make a thread...I only know so much <.<. I personally believe PI should be firmly in the hands of Dust Merc, basically we should have "locality" in this game, aka the ability to move around the EVE universe albeit at a cost.
Now when PI is set up I can understand that some players use PI without having any connection to Dust, however I feel like players who do have Dust connects should be able to set up large colonies/ PI sockets on planets and those planets should accumulate resources based on a combination of Dust Merc Skills and EVE based skills with us micro managing the harvesting of resouces, as well as providing private security to the PI installations from drone infestations which come more frequently the large the PI installations are. |

The problem with this is that there's not that much ISK in PI at the moment for EVE players. I have 2 EVE characters with PI skills but I often don't even bother to keep things going as it's kind of a pain, and not very lucrative.
Now if the weapons/dropsuits/mods used in Dust were produced via PI, that would create a huge market and demand for PI goods. This might be enough to motivate people, but this would all have to take place in Low/Null sec and it's currently possible to do PI in high sec so that would be a major issue. Why would I take on the risks and expense of dealing with DUST combat in Low/Null sec when I can achieve much of the same benefits without the hassle in High? CCP could eliminate PI in High, but you're going to see a lot of EVE players get upset by that direction with people screaming "DUST is ruining EVE!!!" |

I know there are no (real) player contracts in DUST now. But eventually they may arrive one day... And then...
EVE pilots could issue contracts for DUST mercs to maintain PI colonies. There is stuff in PI that needs to be done "by hand". Resetting extractors and re-positioning extractor heads. With proper collateral and pay out incentives this could spawn PvE missions for DUST corps or individual mercs and secure EVE pilots' businesses. Win-win.
Or contracts to attack and take ownership of PI colony on behalf EVE pilot. If "Interplanetary consolidation" skill level allows for more colonies. This is also EVE side's drawback: too few colonies per character allowed. Max 6. Could be more via training advanced skills after one maxes out "Interplanetary consolidation".

Good ideas and that's a good(and long O_o) thread link.
How about CCP makes it so that there's like a new type of colony or set of PI that's larger and makes more ISK but it has to be built in low-sec or null-sec and it can be attacked and defended by mercenaries? This way there's an option to PI that's both risky and worth the continuous pay out? Maybe CCP would start out with simple contract interfaces for EVE pilots/Corporations where they just send it to an active corporation every time it needs defending and THEN we work on up and make more complex contracts. For example, a EVE based corporation hires a mercenary corporation to fight it's battles for a month by issuing a contract that's active for that amount of time with a certain payout from their wallet?

This is already planned. At least a dev mentioned something like this somewhere here. |
