I'm bringing this up because it's an important issue (to me at least) that hasn't been talked about at all in relation to the aiming update with 1.4. Ideally it'd be nice to hear from a dev (Wolfman specifically) if this has been adjusted at all or if they even see it as something that needs attention.
Anyway, here's how I see it:
Moving the right right analog stick from 0% to say maybe 10% seems to do nothing and then as soon as it crosses the 11% threshold (these numbers are just a guess and only meant to give you the general impression of what is happening), it immediately jumps from 0 deg/s to some random value which is fairly large relative to zero.
In my opinion this is part of the effect that makes it really difficult to make extremely minor adjustments, like say moving your aim from the chest to the head because of the "jumpy/choppyness" of it. Now I realize that the aim assist adjustments should potentially help alleviate this, but this is something that should be much smoother regardless of whether you are aiming at someone, what weapon you're using, or if you have aim assist activated.
I know the DS3 is generally pretty bad for shooters (its inherent deadzone being one of its problems), but when playing other shooters like CoD, BF, Far Cry, etc, the difference is immediately apparent. In all of those games, the amount of stick deflection required to get visible input is significantly less. Not only that, but they seem to gradually build up from 0 deg/s rather than jump to some value. Again, this is the case even when not aiming at a target (so the aim assist isn't a factor).
Now I will say that I think there was some improvement in this area from chromosome to uprising, but it's still very noticeable to me, and I'm wondering if this is still something being looked at. Or maybe I'm just crazy and seeing things. Does anyone else notice this when they play?
Just as a quick note, yes, I have messed with all the settings including the deadzone setting under the Move section. None of it has any effect in relation to this. I should also mention that when I've tested this, I move the stick very slowly, and often pause to hold it in position so this should not be effected by input lag at all. |
