I wish it was earlier.
I have a whole long weekend free. So do most of us (in North America, at least).
If I have to wait until Tuesday, I have to play after work.
Why, oh why, didn't they give this to us yesterday or today?

It's a developer thing in general.
Tuesdays are usually when games release updates, not sure why, it completely baffles me. |

This is a dual release both Dust and EVE are deploying patches. First time for a major point release.
The release day helps both teams.
For EVE that means the devs can deploy fixes right up to the patch going live and then 3 days to fix bugs so they don't have to work the next weekend.

I believe that Tuesday is the day that Sony updates their PlayStation Store every week.
Plus, I have noticed what others have said about most video game- related releases happening on Tuesdays. |

Tuesdays are typically a patch day on most studios, Monday is pre-planning and preparation day, wednesday is observation and fix it day, thursday is deploy the hotfix and hope it works, friday if all goes well its beer time. |

If the patch is huge in size (sometimes requiring the entire re-download of the game) then I will spend most of Tuesday and Wednesday downloading it (granted it doesn't fail, like it has in the past several times in a row). So it's nice it is on Tuesday, that way when the cap resets on Wednesday I won't be too far behind.
Although CCP did great with 1.3, the size of that was a normal patch size! I hope that is the case from now on, and the only time we have to re-download the entire game is for new builds. |
