This may just be an issue for me and I could just be being paranoid and/or emo'd out. I have noticed (or atleast I think I have) that shotguns seem to completely miss when you are aiming at the upper torso/head. The guy can be standing still, you can be right in his face, and if you dont go center/lower torso, you just seem to shoot right through him/her. Has anyone else had this issue on occasion? |

If my shotgun works >50% of the time, it's been a surprisingly good day.
Rumor is that 1.4 should fix this. |

My new thing is the k 17 breach shotgun or w/e it's called, I run Minmatar scout ad K 17 breach Ishknocks Complex shield Enhanced light dam mod Flux Scanner CPU chip Basic kinetic / profile damp
This for some reason has been one shotting dudes from range An once 1.4 come out I'm gonna level up the reload on my shotty all the way So I'm hoping for big things |

I want to shoot myself most of the time when using my shotty but it's such a change from my AR. I love to pop out, insta-kill some guy and run away. I've never tried breach though... Can I one shot a pro assault? |

Hit detectionin general has been problematic for the entire time DUST has existed.
Weapons with lower fire rates (Shotgun, Sniper Rifle) are hit much harder, because a single missed shot will mean the difference between a kill and an almost-untouched enemy.
Part of the problem is that players are used to client-side hit detection and that's handled server-side in DUST. You can compensate to an extent if you know how laggy you are. I still haven't got around to testing it properly in Uprising (I disappeared for a while), but I know in Chromosome you could work this out. There was always a delay between firing your weapon and seeing the ammo count drop - that delay is a good measure on which you could estimate your latency, and work out how far to lead your targets. Like I said, I'm not certain if this still works, but it's worth trying. |

Yup. Even more so. But, that 2 shot clip is a MF if you find yourself in a red campground.
I prefer something with an 8 shot clip and maybe a damage mod, for good measure. Militia Shotties OHK 80% of the field if you're doing it right - and the weapon is working as intended. I have a [STARTER FIT] with the AR swapped for a Militia Shotgun just for a low-cost hit detection tester. When the mechanics are working, it kills. A bit slow for a shotgun build, so I'll swap into something speedier if all's well. |

This does indeed ring true, however things you can do to improve involve improving the jitter on your line, get on your isp about it, I have 2ms jitter and my shotty works about 80% of the time!! |

Had a game yesterday when two shot gunners should have ended my life, hits entirely missed and I turned and killed them. Something was really off and it wasn't latency. |

Not sure as of yet but I can kill a heavy with 2 in the back with a enhanced dam mod but unless ur reload is up an u have a good side arm I would be careful since proto assaults seem to wiggle a lot , ur first shot has to hit, then if the second don't hit , don't reload switch to ur smg an polish em off, I'm a scout so standing face to face is risky with a 2 shot clip, but advanced fits dissapar in one shot |

For the record... 1.4 had fixes to aiming, and said nothing about fixes to hit detection.
For some reason people think aiming = hit detection, when in reality the systems are completely different |

I'm going to be doing some more testing, but I suspect that a non-Shotgunner has found the answer by getting murdered at extreme ranges and surviving consistently in CQC.
Pretty sure the Shotgun hit area has been flipped.
I'll be testing this theory soon, and will return with results when I can.
Also, for the record, depending how close I am to peak times, my jitter is typically <1, but sometimes gets as high as 3 on a bad night. |
