Sometimes if i pull a grenade out it will be put away instantly even when half cooked. Also ill throw my militia grenade out right next to a hacker and does no damage. this is being done with militia locus grenades using a basic medium amarr i think basic heavy also. on a seperate note a good portion of my uplinks will fry for no reason after being thrown. mostly happens when not level but also can happen perfectly flat on the ground, or when i walk away from it. |

BUMP because the grenade bug still hasn't been fixed. CCP, please look at this. I provide details on how to reproduce the glitch below.
1. Start cooking grenade. 2. Move to/aim at location where you want the grenade to go. 3. The half cooked grenade mysteriously disappears out of your hand and goes back on your belt without exploding!
My theory for what is happening here is that at stage 1 I'm fully depressing the L2 button, but in the course of moving/aiming (stage 2) the button becomes only semi-depressed. For some reason semi-depressed is reading as 'return pin to grenade and put back on belt' rather than 'keep cooking grenade'. Whatever the cause, I'd appreciate a fix, as it really impacts playability for me. |

You need to start reporting these problems correctly. This is not actually the correct forum.
What you have encountered is a Map/Mesh problem. Most likely anyway.
The ground by the hacking objective will eat the grenade, probably because of a bad mesh that allows the grenade to disappear under the map. Nothing will happen after that. And a programmer will never find the bug because grenades normally work. While there may be a particular corner case that the grenades fail anywhere the odds are highest that this is a map issue.
So, go to this forum:
https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=forum&c=235
Select the type of battle, then the appropriate map, followed by the Grid Location from the JPEG in the first post in that section.
Beware there are many sockets and the map JPEG does not have all of them placed, so a well stated description of what the equipment was by that Grid Location will help the level designers and QA significantly.
Good Luck. |

What you have is a problem with your controller. Try the newest DS3 you can get your hands on. If you are unable to repeat the problem then repair or replace the DS3.
DUST will have weird menu issues when your controller is starting to get tired. Specifically the menus will scroll way more than you want. That could also be from having more than one DS3 plugged in (so don't do that).
Note that I have had to repair one and replace another to play DUST. The odd thing, to me anyway, is those same controllers could be used in other games.
Good Luck.

The OP is reporting two different grenade issues. One of them is the same as mine.
I have three controllers. The oldest one has the issues with menus you're referring to. When I used to use it to play Dust it would also sometimes throw grenades when I used L3 to run. So believe me, I am familiar with controller problems.
But I don't think the problem we're describing in this thread is anything to do with the controller I'm now using. The controller is 2 months old, and it's very crisp moving around the menus and in game. I've never had a misread input with it except for this grenade issue.
Furthermore, controller problems generally fall into one of two categories: (1) unresponsiveness; (2) misreading of inputs (e.g. reading L3 as L2, as in the example I mentioned above). My problem falls into a different category: (3) makes something happen that should not be able to happen. There is no button to put a partially cooked grenade back on my belt. Buggy hardware cannot make software perform an action it is not programmed to do.
Thanks for trying to help, but I'm pretty sure this is a software bug. |

i appreciate your input on the subject, but this is not the problem. the bug occurs in the process of cooking a grenade not after or during the throw. the location of the grenade being thrown as nothing to do with the disappearance. as far as i know this is the correct forum, if it is not, then i welcome the move to the correct one. i have searched the forums for related topics but came up flat. nothing i know of is reporting any similar issue. if you have feed back on ways to make this post more specific i welcome the suggestions. |

In the OP you mention two issues: the thing with semi-cooked grenades going back on the belt (the problem I'm also having) and thrown grenades not causing damage. Kal is saying that the second issue is a map glitch, i.e. the map is swallowing the grenade. If you like you could edit the OP so it doesn't mention thrown grenades not causing damage, which is quite a separate issue from the cooking issue. |

See this happen to more so heavies not taking any damage from grenades despite them blowing up under there feet. When ever i see people using core grenades they always work up to 4 meters away. M1 and under i've noticed this problem. But with the number of people that get spawn killed from being spawned in the middle of a battle during ambushes. Not on an uplink. The screen is too glitched when you join into battle to react on time for those grenade cookers and people knowing that you will spawn in the middle of them so they are ready for you.
Grenades tend to be over used.
Lot more people are nade spamming. |

Lot more people are nade spamming. An interesting comment regarding this. One might conclude that there is an issue when the map/mesh is busy with overlaid objects, which would include uplinks, grenades and heavies. There are/were several problems with the explosions being circles instead of spheres for mass driver rounds. This could well be some corner case that cause one or more to drop from the damage list.
This will be an interesting problem to debug. Which is to say, Hey, I'm retired! Don't call me. No more dreaded random bug chases, except in code that I write. |

The DS3 is an interesting controller. All buttons are analog as well as digital. Which means if you partially release the L2 button (or any as they all act the same) the software could see that as a full release. Without the code it is impossible to tell of course,
The OPs expanded reply concerning his theory is very plausible. It might even be caused by a third part library that they are using, which would be difficult to detect.
Hopefully the Devs will note this thread and decide to respond to the problem.
If it doesn't then the other option is to file a petition (CCP's name for a trouble ticket) at [email protected] although my usual caution applies, these are real people so be polite, like you have been todate. They usually respond with an automated email before a person will reply so be patient. |

I'm sorry but this is totally ridiculous! There is not a single time i can rely on a grenade to do ANY damage, it seems totally random when they decide to work.
Last night i threw a cooked grenade into the CENTER i repeat the middle of three guys and NOT A SINGLE PERSON WAS AFFECTED, NO DAMAGE WAS DEALT AT ALL!
I'm really sick of not being able to rely on essential pieces of equipment, this is not some issue with blocking, or coding.... this feels like a NERF like you guys responded to all those grenade spam whiners and just did a silent nerf so no one would complain. That is wrong, if you are going to change gameplay you need to make it KNOWN......
Otherwise i don't know how to explain the completely unacceptable way that grenades are acting at the moment.... But i do know that when i should have gotten three kills and instead i get blasted myself due to a bug, the game stops being fun and starts becoming a chore.
Please fix.
