Do you need max proficiency to get officer weapons?

Can anyone confirm or debunk this? I've had proficiency in one weapon at 4, but never seen an officer weapon yet. Thanks!

The more you kill, the higher your salvage chances? And, say, the more snipers you slay, the higher the chance to obtain an officer sniper rifle?

The sad thing is that luck seems to favor those who do poorly in matches to get any form of loot in pub matches. I did pick up 3 x Thales twice last week and 3 x Gastun's Forge this week. Barely anything in the weeks prior.

I've gotten several officer forge guns, hmgs, and smgs but not a bit of sp spent on them. You do need proficiency 3 to use them though. They're a lot rarer than they used to be and the salvage system is fubar. Some people get lots of salvage others rarely get any regardless of how well they do.

I don't remember the specifics of how they are distributed (Not that the system was ever specificicaly explained, to prevent people trying to game it) but I believe that you're more likely to get the better items pulled from the pool if you have a higher WP contribution to your team, but it's still somewhat random what you get, out of the random things taken from the pool.

I wish I could sell all those HMG and buy a couple Krin's and Thale's. I won't sell any FG. I don't want any of my enemies to use them against me. They are just insane. I wish I could biomass them, so I wouldn't even consider selling them at ridicolously high prices.

But it really does seem like what ever your skilled highly in you don't get any loot for that! seems fixed.

I know it doesn't effect suits, so, probably impossible, but it would be nice. When I was specced into ARs to the max, never got a balac or krin. Now, get a group of balac's usually once a week. And Gastun's, both kinds, waiting for trading, my buddy who helped with the hacking for my 100 Falchions deserves some of them.

I had sniper prof 2 and figured I'd go ahead and train to 3 so I could use the stack of Thale's I built up earlier when loot was a bit more generous. Sniping is really more of a hobby than my primary role so I always had something else I wanted to train. Anyway, I brought out the Thale's in a match to try it out and got the first stack of 3 at the end. I haven't lost one yet and now have 29 of them. Nice rifle but I usually just use an Ishukone when I'm taking out a pesky sniper or forge gunner. Also, proficiency 3 is what unlocks the ability to use an officer weapon, not 1 or 5, for any of the weapons I've trained in to.

I can absolutely confirm that skill levels are not a prerequisite for salvage drops. Just yesterday I got a few Gastun's and I've got nothing in heavy weapons.

I have incidentally AFK'ed for a minute or two in an MCC while I got water or something and I've gotten 3 types of officer weapons. While if I destroy like 3 tanks and two LLAV'S I get nothing :/

Today was the first time i got a few gastuns in months. In the beginning of dust i had nearly a 100 of everything, (except for the thale) and poof after the last mayor update all gone. now i just have a few left. And the thale well that's just a myth for me, never seen one in all the time that i played. This salvage system needs a do over.
