ItGÇÖs a general question to our friendly blue CCP Employee. Please answer whatever you like or whatever you are allowed to talk about. I fully understand if you canGÇÖt tell us the strategic plans for Dust, but maybe answer a little bit.
Will Dust receive an Add-On this year? Can we expect to see free Add-Ons two times a year like we did it in EVE Online? Will the Add On GÇ£renameGÇ¥ the game like its happen in EVE for a better understanding examples are like: 1.13 Tyrannis / 1.14 Incursion / 1.15 Incarna / 1.16 Crucible / 1.17 Inferno and so on. Will there be small TV commercials for the Add-Ons to attract new players?
Here follows my personal motivation, you donGÇÖt need to read or assume it if you donGÇÖt like to. Feel free to absolutely ignore it if you like.
My personal motivation behind this question is my disaffection with the game as it is now. Maybe a couple of member here will remember my name, sometimes I just troll around here and there but sometimes I try to find my personal spark of maybe just ember of hope in the near future for this game. I would like to know if we can expect something big in this year. Looking at this yearGÇÖs October and November makes me hard to motivate myself for Dust, and IGÇÖm an active member and fan of New Eden, IGÇÖm not a newbie to this universe, I know how great it could be. The year 2014 could be the hardest test to pass for Dust. IGÇÖm asking myself how you CCP are planning to motivate the mass marked for this game. The Meta critics are destructive for this game; sadly a lot of people are listening to them and truth to be told: I think you know that you deserve them. This game could have been better at the lunch? Yes. Should it be still in beta? Yes I think so. But I donGÇÖt know what is going on in your company, maybe you had a hard time with your staff, maybe you overrated your product, who knows? That should not be the case of discussion here. I donGÇÖt even like to have a discussion here. All I want is GÇ£instant hopeGÇ¥ in one form or another. I personally know people how sell their PS3 and games to get a new PS4. If this is the right thing to do is not the point here, but I think if some of my friends are doing this, then there might be more. Dust Is losing players, very often I see the same names in the matches, It feels like the pool of real players became very small. This have never happen to me in other ego shooter.
This game is free-to-play and a lot of people are using this for an excuse like: GÇ£hey itGÇÖs free, if you donGÇÖt like it, move onGÇ¥, GÇ£at least itGÇÖs freeGÇ¥, GÇ£take a break and come back in a yearGÇ¥ (donGÇÖt worry, I will), but this should not be an excuse for the quality of a game! I understand very well that New Eden in common is nothing for easy for the mass market but itGÇÖs the mass market how fill your wallet, itGÇÖs the mass market who should fill your servers and forums, itGÇÖs the mass market how keep up the talk about a game and GÇ£infectGÇ£ others to give this game a chance. (oohh boy IGÇÖm getting ready to get flamed for this, but!) ItGÇÖs the GÇ£mass marketGÇ¥ who keeps the economy in EVE Online alive; itGÇÖs the small people in the empire, the mission runners, and the casual gamers. ItGÇÖs not only the hyper active 00 alliances how keep the game on running, without the casual gamer EVE Online would struggle as well. Casual and very active gamers need each other to have a healthy sandbox world.
The damage has been done. The game is out and you and we are still trying to balance the core. We are in 1.4 soon and the game is still not even half finished. By saying this I mean all the basic vihicles, suits and weapons. Are you planning to include them as a special event? This things should have been there even in the closed beta! You have a ten years plan for Dust? How do you plan to stay alive for so long? Ten years means a crap ton of content to keep the game fresh and exciting, we need tools to make our own content like in we did in EVE, we need to see one universe, one bid playground to motivate ourselves. What we see now is a little bit more from what we saw in the closed beta. And you do nothing about it! Balance patches and content should balance each other to keep the game fresh and interesting.
Now that the child has already fallen into the well you should talk to us more open and you don't wait to shut the stable door after the horse has finally bolted. |
