Respec threads are popping up like dandelions on a dunghill roght now. I personally think the only solution is to implement a very infrequent respec option, such as a yearly respec. New players start with one "respec token" type of object so that they can experiment before committing to a path. In addition, every year on a certain day all accounts receive one more which is valid until the next one is issued. In this way people can respec without it becoming out of control. No FOTM spam, but at the same time we can respec if CCP drastically alters something we were using.

 No.
This is not a new suggestion, by the way.

They should only allow reallocation of sp when they change a major gameplay mechanic and only for effected areas

Like 1.4 they should allow scouts to reallocate their suit SP because CCPs making all their current "advantages" N/A

1.5 should allow vehicle reallocation because they are changing vehicles up completelly

but see 1.3 shouldnt allow Cal-logi respects because its a very minor change

I was not aware, I have not come accross the suggestion yet in my browsing, thank you for informing me.

I would like to hear your reasoning, if you'd be kind enough to indulge me. It will assist me in grasping the totality of community members' thought processes in regards to this.

Mossellia: Wouldn't a periodically granted full respec be less work for CCP than granting partial respecs whenever they alter something significantly? There would be disagreements over what constitutes significant changes. The easier an implementation would be for CCP the more likely it would be to actually happen.

 No, thanks.
I expect a re-specs when they do major adjustments, such as the Vehicle/AV patch. If in the future there is massive changes for the way Dropsuits work, then I'd support a re-spec for that too, but we should be refunded for the skills they've changed if we're massively affected.

 Meh,

from my house, i say no to yearly respecs also. make like peanut butter!!! and spread yourself all over that bread.

err skill tree i mean. any points spent in any skill are not wasted points. misplaced yea maybe but in my book if paid respecs become a option that means dust= pay to win. cuz everyone will be respeccing FOTM like fiends.

if it is something that shatters the balance of the class for lots of peeps. by all means ccp should fix it.

but just because your FOTM is not so FOTM any more nope nada.... i have solved this problem by sticking to a set game and skill plan..

laser rifle / smg .... even through the horrible iron sights! can i get a huzzah! for 1.4

but yea respecs espically paid ones. i say nay fellow mercs. NAY 07

Well, the token idea was sorta my idea. There was two tokens given once new contexts, mechanics or specialisations is release. Name it when or how many but this is the best way to not flood a particular races or weapons FotM style.

One token to reset one node and the second one to reset a skill tree branch forward. No skill book reimbursement fiasco, no respec in theory.

If you allow a total respec again the balance will be affected again and its gonna be 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 take two.

We don't even have all the options on the table yet. We can't even use galentte, caldari, minmatar heavies, amarr or caldari scouts, amarr of minmatar vehicles, MAV's, HAC, MTAC's, all the weapons or turrets. If they're going to do a respec, it should be after we have new content, not to give the biggest munkins a new way to game the system and narrow down the viable choices more and more.
