and i see the proto bear get less of a kd/r with that i think its kinda embarrasing...that the ppl of this game r s reliante on proto gear on here when i can pwn that well with out it.....
lets just remove proto from the game so i can see my kdr per match jump to over 100/0 per match i would like to see that happen...
or better yet a gear restriction and pve... |

I usually do better when I don't run my proto suit. Of course, I'm a Caldari Logibro, so basically I run around with a giant target on my head saying "AIM HERE". Seriously though, I think I draw more Aggro with a capital A than a squad of heavies with Mass Drivers. |

If you have core upgrades and the person using proto gear doesn't have them STD gear can beat them. This game still requires skill. If you want to make a proto killing suit you have to learn how also. Personally i think the best proto killing suit is ( i use Caldari Assault ) one with full shield extenders. Defense in this case is the best offense if your opponent is using anything that will lower his hp he can get killed you just have to be a good shot. |

I do pretty good with STD when I'm not faced with full proto teams.
I used to go 15/4 in chrome when I didn't have packs of mega strong duovalle packing death machines. |

If I can be so bold as to counter your question with another question:
Given each answer to your original question, yes and no, what constructive conversations do you see as followups to these answers?
You only have 6000 characters to explain, so make them count. |

You only have 6000 characters to explain, so make them count. Allow me to try. There is a vocal majority, or perhaps minority, i honestly don't know, who claim that the tiered suits are a major factor contributing to a negative new player experience that ultimately drives potential players away from DUST.
The concern stems from the obvious and urgent fact that the playerbase is desperately small, despite the large number of players who have tried DUST.
CCP events such as bonus skillpoints and other bribes have done little or nothing to change this fact.
The OP points out from personal experience that tiered suits may not be the source of fps evil that some are making them out to be.
I am willing to make a stronger claim. That almost any vet can roll a new toon, run only the starter fits, spend absolutely no skill points, ever, and still maintain an even kdr in pub matches while still contributing to the team.
If this claim is true at all, the implication is that DUST-specific player knowledge is what makes the difference on the battlefield. And in that case, leveling suits would make very little difference to the raping of new players in pub matches, whereas a solid, mandatory education would make a significant difference. |

Well said, we need more solid posts like this.
Skill and experiance will/should trump over equipment. The sad thing is new players need to learn the game in crap gear so its inevitable they will get destroyed before both feet leave the academy.
CCP should make the academy a bit more entertaining, a lot longer so they can experiment with all weapons/gear so they get a proper taste of what they want to do and lastly give them a sp spike into the field they want to pursue, say std suit/weapon/equipment so their paths a bit clearer for them and they stand more of a chance.
That said, squads of 6 vets in proto will destroy them anyway, though they maybe more enlightened of why it happened and they wanna stick around and improve. Maybe even join a corp before the QQ quit.

I usually do better in my blueprint suits than my advanced. I don't have proto yet. It's pretty common to run +11 kill games and score top 3. I post pics on the gallery of my corp ppage here.http://hysteriacorp.enjin.com |
