Hello everyone, I have beenn trying to figure out if the heavy sentinel suit was worth the try. I'm currently thinking about finishing my heavy set up with a base prototype but i keep hesitating between the two.
Thank you for your time and have a good day.
P.S I am a forge gunner if that helps in any way. |

the advantage is tank vs dps.
With the new armor buff? I say yes.
However both are situational...forging I'd use the basic proto cause 2x damage mods.
HMG I'd use sentinel. |

Zatara pretty much killed the suit analysis but there is another factor... Skill Point Management.
Suit specializations are hefty SP wise. It wouldn't hurt to review your buffer, fitting, weapon skills and then make a judgment. |

P.S I am a forge gunner if that helps in any way. Hi - I've also a heavy. I would ask two things:
A) Are you Anti Vehicles
or
B) Are you anti-infantry?
If vehicle I would suggest staying at basic frame. 2x damage mods is very useful for the high slots it has.
But if you're anti-infantry with it you'd want sentinel. Survivability is key here and sentinel is a survivor. But the Sentinel suit requires almost 6-7 million SP to be used competitively. |

Everyone does it differently. I am a forger and run sentinel suits (basic/Dren or adv) and use the high for a sidearm damage mod. Forges don't really need extra damage unless there is a serious tanker on the field... Then I like to roll out the breach and adv basic suit with 2x damage mods.
plus sentinel aids in reload speed of hmg and forges. |

I pretty much do both since I don't find vehicles every match but if i find a tank for exemple I like to make sure he doesnt see me. Either way, with my proto assault forge gun I shoot quite fast. In most cases it makes most of the tankers fall back for a short amount of time which is enough for the team to make a comeback. |

Stay with the ADV Basic until cores are maxed out. You'd have to get into the Proto Sentinels to have 2 high slots again. 2.5 million SP just for 1 more slot.

this is wrong. proto sentinel doesn't have 2 high slots. only the basic proto does.
read my post again. if he has advanced heavy frame you'd need about 970k to get basic proto which is the only heavy suit available with 2 high sots. |

Like everyone else said, the Heavy frame proto is the best FG suit. Damage output matters more than anything else in a FG fit. |

Just to put another opinion out there...
I'm a 100% dedicated fattie, and I never went beyond Advanced Basic. With the right support skills you can cram 2x Damage Mods, Boundless HMG, SMG, flux nades, complex armor rep and advanced plates on the mid-grade basic suit.
The only thing that gives me trouble fitting from the Forge Gun side is the Ishukone Assault. I use the Kaalakiota and Wiyrkomi instead.
Even going up against top 50 players in proto gear, I never found the extra low slot worth the price. Tacks on 50k isk per suit for an extra hundred or so HP. So after the last respec, I saved the SP and stopped at Advanced.
I plan to go proto sentinel on some new racial Heavy suit if they ever come out, though. Been sitting on 2.8 million unspent SP for months waiting for it. |

short answer... no
there are many reasons Im not going to go into, but no.
maybe down the road when you have over 20m SP and most your innates maxed and some other stuff.. then... ...
maybe
the 4L/1H has an appeal to armor tanking, but that's 2.1m SP for a slot moving from the left to the right....
