Yea bro that's what scares me, I mean I like sims, and FPS, but I also understand why people like to fly 3rd person, but us sim guys like to fly FPV or first person view because it gives you better control and spacial awareness. The assault ships pilots should not have the ability to move the front turret up and down, that turret should face forward at all times.
This would promote more teamwork as the pilot would need gunners to "watch his/her back", engage targets below, behind., and above, as well as help with targets in front of the ship. That right stick should control the throttle and yaw. |

Buddy, I think you are the one who is drunk here (that or an imbecile); How about you read what you said, then check the setting of this game's universe and it's technology; furthermore, think of the logic of applying this to ADS and how much that would cripple its usage/popularity/utility (yes, all of the above), and then once you have thought about all of that (like a good smart boy), then come back and chat with us adults. |

I don't need to read it, I wrote the darn thing. I have been playing EVE for over 5 years so I am very much familiar with the EVE universe and its technology, but what does that have to do with what I wrote?
CADS/GADS Caldari Assault Dropship/Gallente Assault Dropship are DROPSHIPS!
Dropships are meant to ferry troops too and from the battlefield, as I said before in other posts removing the useless turret up down from the Y axis on the right analog stick and replacing it with the throttle would make flying a ADS a much better experience + that would free up two buttons for either countermeasures, and or a cloak function.
The assault dropships should be more of a zoom and boom platform, not a solo hover firing platform for the pilot. In short it should take more skill to get a kill as a pilot then a side door gunner.

It's true, but sad that what Rachael Taylor said is true; not only in the real world, but in the virtual world as well.

It will also be sad when the ps4 comes out and all these people who want instant gratification leave for other titles, and all the people who like myselfe wanted a challenge (a deeper FPS experience) whom would have stayed, left way before because the game catered to the uncommitted and dimwitted.

Having an adjustable gun on Heli-type craft is completely normal. I don't know how backward the EVE universe is, but we've had that tech since... the 1960s at least? I'm stasis, cloning, and teleportation are a lot easier than figuring out how to rig some servos and motors to a friggin stick though.
The part that isn't normal is having the pilot control it. Every attack-helicopter I can think of (Cobra, Apache, Hind, etc.) has a crew of at least 2 with the co-pilot managing the turrets. In that sense, the Assault DS thing is kinda stupid. Fighter pilots operate their weapons completely differently, that's why it works solo. I'm not sure what the thinking was there. Trying to make dropships more interesting with a variant? A "scout" one would've made more sense.
Bomber bit doesn't make sense either, in context. I can't think of single bomber that works with a 1-man crew either. And if you have to skill into a ship and get someone else to operate your bombs, that'll be a frustrating course for the Pilot (hello, I have to skill into weapons that I can never personally use). |
