wait an listen for 1.5 this has been something that being looked at for long enough that a preliminary version of it just may sneak in there.
the problem is that is not an easy task to diferentiate driver steats from passinger code wise, so its alot more work then it seems.
its not as simple as a few lines of code, its a complete rework on the passinger system as well,
but theres a very good chance that something will be cooked up for then, but dont get your hopes up too high. |

Yeah, I ended up AFKing three matches yesterday because I hopped into a match with some blueberry that decided that because I dropped in a tank, he was entitled to feed off my WP.
No, there was no chance of his helping me. I was using a railgun fitted with blasters for the rider turrets, deeeep in the redline. |

They've totally forgotten to consider the affordances of something they throw into the game and this is the consequence.

in eve if u can fly a ship but don't have all the skills for the mod u can still fly the ship and us e the mods u do have the skills for. second i dunno how u all spawn in vehicles but whenever i spawn in a dropship or tank or lav it get delivered nicely near me.
now here is the trick its a small mini game. just strafe and walk close as possible to the vehicle. THEN when it finally drops its takes a couple for seconds for others to be able to jump in which is enough time to get in ur own vehicle.
so whats all ur problems and yeah don't use what u can not afford to loose that way u don't have to **** about in the red line or go afk for couple of games and **** it up for others simply coz ppl to stupid and using stuff they CAN NOT AFFORD TO LOOSE

poorly designed mess of spaghetti code is something else entirely....
programmers use that term to describe legacy code, changed and modifyed so many times by so many people that none of the comments make sence anymore.
where your never too sure if a particular piece of code is even used anymore.
code so messed up that its easyer to re-write it and start from scratch then it is to change anything.
yout hink you know spegetti code? you dont knwo the half of it. and a freshly made game cant hold a candle to true spegetti code... |

I have a counter preposal. Instead of a lock, how about we do this by skill. If the scrub can't fly a dropship (he has no skills into dropships of any race) then he is instantly put into the gunner seat and does not have access to the pilot seat as he doesn't have the knowledge on how to open the door. Furthermore if he doesn't have any skills into turret opperation then he is put into one of the transport slots, as he cannot figure out the user interface on the turret controls without the turret opperation skill. If I have prototype turrets on my dropship, he needs turret op 5 to opperate it.
This would make scrubs simply unable to opperate nice shiny toys they don't know how to use |

You should be able to turn the lock on and off, depending on if you want bluedots in, squadmates, or only specific people. |

Fair enough. A lock would help. Just as long as I can get in and steal it if I'm a red. Perhaps something hackable?
Then need some way to notify other blues to jump in when you want them to. Some type of flag on the diamond/triangle?
Sitting in front of infantry likely won't work as well as you hope in pub matches. I'm always leery of jumping into a tank, LAV or dropship when I don't know what the driver/pilot is up to. Often we bugger about a bit then blow up. Especially dropships.

I am a nice blueberry. I play with a microphone. I talk with the tank pilot (even if he doesn't have a mic) and I tell him useful stuff. Like if someone is trying to sneaking up on him from behind (Which is a pretty good hint the bastard has AV grenades.) Because I am a fellow tanker, I am naturally skilled up in turrets so I can occasionally be an asset. Today, I played with a Tanker named Lone_Wolf who was getting rocked by a guy with AV grenades. He couldn't lock the reddie down because Wolf was in a rail gun fit and the red was bunny hopping around. I jumped into Wolf's turret, killed the guy for him, and rolled with him for the rest of the match. I am blueberry who provides for quality of life.
Notable stuff I do: I always use the back turret, and I constantly swivel to the back so people can't sneak up behind the tank.
I say things like: Hey! People are behind us!
I ask use common sense solutions/ "Do you want to recall? Shoot twice if you need me to jump out."
Everyone should be like me. |

theres been a lot of debate on this thread so just to clarify the details of how this happened to me-
i took a breach forge gun hit which took my 4000 shield dropship down to half armour... i quickly got to a safe place emergency landed and jumped out to repair my dropship..
the blueberry gunner then jumped out and back in as i was repping and flew off in my dropship leaving me next to the red line devasted and emotionally scarred for life as i turned my playstation off in protest.
Agreed, stuff you blue dots that steal! Suck my manhood! |

Locks are required at 1.5
HAV's get to remove their turrets and hence be BLUEBERRY PROOF.
But DS and I suppose Lavs still have passenger seats to contend with. Still can't recall or leave vehicle, or choose who I want in or out of my vehicle if there are no locks. |
