Can I skill into the anti-lag tree?? Maybe for each level I skill-up make my gun work for 5% extra playtime?
Okay so I posted on this before but now I know for sure it's something temperamental and not my imagination. Last night I played two matches and every single one of my bullets was hitting it's target, whether against proto or basic, I was owning for a couple of matches with my free dragonfly suit and an exile AR, no damage mods, nothing extra, basically I'm talking about my bullets hitting their targets - hit registration.
I now realize I'm actually pretty good at this game when it's working correctly but then the next couple of games after that, everything changed and even from close, my bullets weren't registering and I couldn't even take out militia suits. I have AR up to 5 and proficiency up to 3 and sharpshooter up to 4 so I know it's not my skills or abilities that are lacking.
I live in Mexico but have a pretty decent fiber-optic connection - 10Mb down and 1Mb up so it really shouldn't be the root cause, Does anyone know if I would benefit from setting my server region to something specific as I currently left it as 'automatic'? Or is it just the luck of the draw or what can I do because the game's so awesome when it's playing as it should but then reverting to how I thought was "normal" is horrible and makes me not want to play anymore!
Thanks for any advice you might be able to give, I'm really hoping that 1.4 will maybe fix a lot of this but doubt it as they haven't mentioned anything about streamlining the transfer of data or anything related (that I remember!).
Cheers. |

Or wait till 1.4.
Thanks Aztec, I ask you in all seriousness if you really think that deleting and re-installing Dust could help because I'm more than willing to try if you think that there could be some kind of local data corruption to blame.. Are there other posts regarding this where it has helped to do this?
Thanks for your answer! ;) |

I have a theory about the way this game works, we can choose our region 'pool' to be placed in, but if there is a lot of players from another region in that match, it will actually chose a server closer to them rather than your actual region.
I exclusively set my region to America, but say if there is a lot of Asian players in the match, I will lag terribly and they will all top the leaderboards (even though they should have been lagging worse than I was).
And even within a region, say America which covers a pretty large area of north and south America, If you are the only one from Mexico in that match and the rest are in the US, the server will be located closer to the US players than you.
Not sure if it actually works like this, but from my experience it does seem to be the case.
This, right here is a great explanation Djinn and would make perfect sense and I think you may be hitting the dusty nail on it's dusty head! But this would mean that to fix my predicament, I would need to play with more Mexicans and even though I speak and understand Spanish almost perfectly, it would suck to be forced to play in Spanish with whiny spoiled 12 year old's rather than my US dust-buddies!!!
Thanks for the help and the idea, maybe I'll go make me some Mexican dust-buddies tonight to test this theory out.
Cheers! |

Wakko03 wrote:Well there is little you can do to solve the problem: ccp's voice server likes to go all wonky when more than 3 people are talking and they don't know how to fix it or are unwilling to fix it at the price qouted them - there is the dev blogs that are claiming they are working on it.... So did you have push to talk set to on? (ccp said [to paraphrase] that they didn't think so many people wanted to talk during the game because it doesn't happen that way in eve , failing to realize that in FPS people on consoles like to talk to each other without turning on their PC's and using skype or teamspeak or some other form of secondary communications) Then you might want to add in the fact that CCP tells you over in the Tech Section that you need to have Universal Plug and Play turned off on your PS3 and router, while still not giving us all the correct ports to open to get past our ISP's built in to their network firewalls which are as different as there are many ISP's with their own quirks. CCP is almost acting like the world is on IPv6 when we are still forced to use IPv4 with NAT being affected by possibly 2 VolP systems working off the same modem Not quite done yet, were you grouped up with other players in a squad? Did they have their internet set up properly? 9/10 times in the group of players I play with they are joking with me that I already know who we are facing because I load into the warbarge 10 to 15 seconds before them, even when I am not a Squad Leader. So how do you have ps3 set up to work with your router? Do you have ports opened or the ps3 in a DMZ setting? FYI I believe ccp has server hubs in Texas according to some posts I have read, so depending on where you are in Mexico you should probably have a better connection than say me on the east coast of the US.
Thanks man, that's a lot of useful information! Yes, I was actually squadding with some complete strangers I met in a game when none of my corp mates were on and it lasted exactly two games and then the next game, my bullets turned into garden peas again even with the same squad! I never have push to talk on, should i? Would it help? |

Wakko03 wrote:Nope there is not much that you can do. A lot of it is due to the equations CCP uses to make it seem like everyone has the same connection; then add in a little spice.... some poor scrub out in the middle of nowhere with the only option being a 3G or 4G cellular connection or even worse satellite dish internet... but wait you still have to connect thru the psn... which has a whole host of issues.
Stop using wireless connection if at all possible and Hard Wire your PS3 with the ps3 media server set to off, try out your router with ports open, to see if that helps for a week and then if that fails try the routers DMZ, having push to talk helps a little and I mean 1% out of 100.
Hope and pray that IPv6 is released into the world before the ps5 is released... that will end NAT problems but give us other problems.
For over a year I had the ISP at my house replacing the main drop line from the telephone pole because squirrels like to use it to get into a tree without crossing the busy road.
I tried the push to talk thing option last night to no avail, didn't seem to help at all... maybe the tiniest fraction. I also set chat to off in the menu to see if that would help by completely negating the need to employ chat channels at all. I didn't set my region to America yet although I would have imagined that it'll be selecting that as my server anyway when using automatic. I'm gonna try moving my ps3 downstairs tonight to see if the wireless connection is the problem.. if that solves it I'll eat my hat... I'd also be able to play at night with squad chat without worrying about waking up my girlfriend! Win win win! Thanks again for the advice bro! |
