It's to my knowledge that the Gallente Assault Suits are underpowered compared to the rest of the assault dropsuits. Well at least before September 2nd. Anyways, before the change, I wanted to know how people currently run their Gallente Assault fittings.
I personally can't stand Armor-Tanking at all. Seriously. I need to be really mobile and able jump over rooftops and such. I also need to be able to have the agility to flank my target or do whatever crazy maneuver pops into my head. If I do have an armor tank, it's with a Scrambler Rifle so I can pop the majority of players quick.
I use Armor Reps mostly. Able to gain my health back in 5-10 seconds, which is definitely faster than base shield recovery. It's always fun to watch my enemy start to scramble when they realized I'm back to 100% after they chased me down. The only bad thing about it is that I can be very vulnerable. And when I'm facing an enemy with Mass Drivers? PFFT. I try to gain distance as fast as I can before I pop their heads off. It's all about speed and mobility for my fits, currently.

2 repper minimum, 1-2 plates and the final mod may be a shield recharger(if only plate was used)
That plus a complex shield extender will get you a little buffer for your suit to heal.
Also 2 DMG mods. |

Reposting what I have posted before on this topic:
Quote: For armour tanking you will want to have 3-4 complex repairers to bump your armour regen up to ~20 (or more) hitpoints per second to put it on par with an unmodded shield regen rate. The advantage is that the armour regen is constant - there is no delay for in/out of combat.
In addition to the repairers you may also want to add a basic or advanced (not prototype) level plate if you don't mind making a minor trade on movement speed for a little more EHP.
This will result in a regen advantage vs shield tankers (since no out of combat delay) at the cost of an EHP disadvantage.
The playstyle then becomes one of lowering incoming DPS to match your regen rate by ducking in and out of cover (speed tanking unadviseable since you will likely be at a movement disadvantage if put on a plate), keeping a constant damage flow on you opponent to minimize his regen rate.
I also tend to stack shield extenders in the highs to offset the EHP disadvantage. Some people instead go with damage mods.
Additional tactics could include spider tanking with remote armour reps, and timing your pushes to be at points when you have both shields and armour regenerating.

Um...due to the hybrid weapon fitting bonus, and the amount of tank your lowslots can fit, on paper you SHOULD be able to fit more damage mods and still have a decent tank compared to many other fits. Especially with the new plate changes the gallente assault should be the kind of the assault rifle users.
The caldari will be very difficult to combat with a little bit higher tank and longer optimal ranged AR. |

My proto fit rocks 2x repper, 2x plate, 2x damage mod then some random 0PG thing like a shield recharger or sensor booster thing.
I think my cheapo suit is a mini version of that, all militia BPO's for the most part. If only I could get a 'Raven' Gallente Assault, that'd make my typical suit that much more ISK-cheaper. |

My advanced Gallente Assault has two basic plates, a repper, a shield extender and a damage mod. I do fine with it, but I stopped using it because the AR, while more useful than any other weapon, is very boring. |

I found dual tanking my Proto Gallente Logi effective. I have 3 complex shield extenders, 2 basic armor plates, and 3 reppers (2 complex 1 enhanced) I don't run with damage mods because my skills are focused more on equipment than weapons.
I have a very effective armor repair rate, and using two basic plates instead of complex leaves me mobile enough to get out of a fight without crippling my HP. After skills I have around 650 EHP split between the two. I haven't tried running with plates other than the basic, I barely have enough CPU/PG with what I have already.
I usually run support or MD suppression in the rear, so I'm rarely on the front line taking any hits, but I have enough shield to warn me when it's time to get out of dodge, and enough armor and reppers to shrug off any stray shots as I run for cover.
LR and SCR can usually rip through my shields fast enough to bring them down in less than a second, but the armor, augmented by the 25+ hp/s repair is enough to keep myself from being killed. Again the reppers constant rate is almost like an EHP buff on it's own.
MDs are an interesting case, because I have enough shield to tank and avoid them until they reload as long as I move. I know how to counter them most of the time, but like most people, if they get a flux on me first, I am toast.
One of my weaknesses are persistent snipers, my speed is still too slow to avoid a good shot, and they usually pack an equal punch, but that comes with the territory. Forge gunners still have an easy enough time sniping me, they are my top cause of death. I've never been killed by a PC so I can't comment, but they will likely also not have a hard time hitting me.
TL:DR Dual tanking is alright ATM for Gal Logi at least. Good EHP, Decent speed, and flexibility make it a decent choice. Not really great in any situation either, so it's best kept for those not expecting to be in the thick of it. |

I usually play as a ground level sniper, which I think the Gallente Assault is fairly well suited for:
My ADV setup for pub matches is something like: 2 light damage mods 1 armor repper 2 plates Tac sniper rifle SMG
My Proto setup is something like: 2 light damage mods 1 sidearm damage mod 1-2 armor reppers 2-3 plates Tac sniper rifle SMG
I try to keep my movement penalty in the 8%-9% range for all of my suits so that they all feel the same. |

On my Gallente Logistics proto I use
1x Damage mod 2x Shield extenders 2x Basic armor plates 2x Enhanced armor plates 1x Complex armor repairer
I run my suit for defending my uplinks but aside from that I just try to go for the highest buffer I can get without moving as slow as a heavy, and even with my huge buffer Mass drivers are a big problem. |

I don't have one, but I'm a very sad little man and I like to imagine the fittings I'd make of I had different suits/weapons/skills.
I would run a Gallente assault with a Tac, a bpo smg, AV nades, damage mods and some mix of armour reps, stamina mods and sprint mods in the lows. Oh and a nanohive of course. The damage mods take priority, then the low slots. I would try fit a Duvolle if there was enough space left, and if I had to fit a compact nanohive to improve some other aspect of the fitting I would.
The primary strategy with this fitting would be to exploit its mobility to dictate the range I engage enemies. It's low HP would be countered by its ability to easily flee any risky fight. |
