That I rarely see or fight some of the most powerful weapons in the game smg, shotguns, scrambler pistole ect (THE most powerful weapon in the game in my eyes)
So I started thinking why.
The answer: they are hard to use.
Everyone wants to use weapons that are easy to use and it's made no better when these weapons have no or little drawback (looking at you full auto AR guys) hell these easy to use weapons are not only easy to use but have been made more powerful so there's not much diffrence to the effectiveness of them as well so realy there's almost no need for 'situatinal' weapons that do something better then others because of the small gap in effectiveness unless used enmasse.
Why is this? Hell I've not seen some gear since the start of uprising like the burst AR (realy I havn't seen that thing at all)
Thoughts?
also speed typing without spellcheck so sorry for grammar. |

There is several good reasons why people don't use the Bursts. Just look at the DPS for starters. It got nerfed out of usefulness a long time ago.
I mostly use the TAC ar thes days for Pub games but framerate and hit detection issues make it useless in PC. Just wait for 1.4, the lasers will most likely be back. |

The Burst gets let down by hit detection so much, the same goes for the TAC and Breach.
I've never been in a situation too, where I went "Damn, I wish I had a Burst instead of this full auto"
Anything the Burst can do the full auto can do better. |

Risk/reward. I've definitely been seeing that stuff pop up. Almost everyone (except the people who love the smell of their own farts and hate the AR) specs AR first because it a good, well rounded weapon. But recently I've been seeing all kinds of new weapons pop up more. A lot more SR, some shotguns, and I've personally been using the SMG more than the AR. I think it just takes a bit after the respec for people to start using the other weapons (then immediately after, people to cry on the forums about them).
And the burst AR is trash. That's why you don't see it. |

AR is easy to pick up and use but it takes a lot of skill to be very good with. Using a duvolle is not an easy 20+ kills a match, only the players who have the skill to maximize its potential do it consistently. I pay attention to the kill feed and when I see Proto ARs and SCRs I always go right after those players to see how they stack up. More often then not it ends with me killing them during their attempt to cook a grenade out of desperation. True skill with this weapon comes down to the ability to maintain aim on a strafing target while you are also strafing and in my case that's with the DS3.
Sorry Sinboto but there is a reason that AR players I have trashed in PC and pubs have switched to the Mass Driver and are putting up better scores in pubs and PC then they did with the AR. Its true and I have seen it from our own members who have made the switch. |

Hit detection is the biggest reason you see nothing but ARs and explosives.
Althought i've been using the assault smg last few days... its a pretty solid weapon and the armor bonus is wicked.
Despite how OP shields are i'm still surprised to see so many armor tankers out there, the bonus is quite nice.
If I do come across a shield tanker... I just need to pop an lolflux nade and im guaranteed to drop almost all of their shields. Flux nades require no skill whatsoever. |

Its the same with every other Nade in the game.
Except Fluxes are non-lethal and are effective only Vs One tanking type. |

I use Scrambler Pistols and find them very very powerful
Some squadmates recently explained that they suck because they will only hit 1/3 of the time if they are lucky with the weapon. The reason not a whole lotta people use Scrambler Pistols is because they spray n pray it like an SMG. However if they knew what situations are good for Scrambler Pistols and what are not I think we would see a lot more on the field.
Basically people try to apply ARs to all the weapons that it can't apply to and give up on them. |

I see my fair share of SRs, FGs, MDs and a whole slew of sidearms. I cant remember the last time I actually played a game of AR 514, it's looking like there's at least some diversity these days |

I cant remember the last time I actually played a game of AR 514, it's looking like there's at least some diversity these days CCP is definitely good at "over-time" game strategy. They take what they produce, work it, massage it, iterate on it, and change it continually. The result is a solid product over time. If CCP can stick it out, and me and you and our 4998 other hardcore fans of the franchise can stick it out, we'll have a great game at the end of the day.
I have noticed that the SMG is the sidearm to have, though. I am guilty of this, although I have been using the Scrambler Pistol now more that I got a 'Dren' version for free. It's satisfying to kill someone with it, because I know it requires *that* much more skill than an SMG, and nobody ever saw the scr. pistol coming.

I see pretty much all the guns, minus scrambler pistols and lasers. Shotgun scouts are a pretty common occurrence, SMGs are the sidearm of choice for most people (outside of those who skilled into flaylocks when they were insane), and scrambler rifles are only slightly less common than ARs. Im not sure why that is, as with the sight they have they're definitively better, I assume it's just do to the fact that people haven't had their eyes open to them.
As for lasers and scrambler pistols..... Lasers are just a joke at the moment, and have been since chromosome. Scrambler pistols were plagued by the low framerate and poor close quarters combat that all of Dust suffered from in 1.0, and I don't think people's opinion of them has had a chance to recover since then. |

It's most likely because when scrambler rifles came out, people were already specced into/speccing into ARs, since that's all there ever was. For me, at least, there was no way to test out a scrambler rifle, and its just not worth it to risk my precious sp on a weapon that wasn't tried-and-true. Incidentally, the AR also helped push me into Gallente suits, since I figured the fitting bonuses would be most helpful early on (in the early part of the sp game) when all core skills weren't at level five.
I actually skilled an alt yesterday into an assault scrambler rifle (scrambler rifle operation IV), and it is AWESOME! To you guys out there looking for an awesome weapon, I'd definitely recommend an assault SR or even the regular SR. It's such a refreshing change from my normal AR and TAR.
But, playing those two weapons essentially back to back on my characters, I do start to see the vision of "breach, burst, assault, tactical" variants on weapons and how those interrelate with each weapons' "primary mode of fire." For example, the Tactical Assault Rifle is a single shot, hard-hitting variant with a nice scope to see where that shot is landing. The Scrambler Rifle's "base" version is a TAR in that it fires a single (normal or charged), hard hitting shot through a nice scope. Alternatively, the "base" Assault Rifle is akin to an Assault Scrambler Rifle in that each are full auto-fire, but in this case I have to give the nod to the Assault SR, because it keeps that awesome scope.
I'm very excited to see the Combat and Rail Rifles and how they relate to their Burst and Breach variants, respectively. |

You forgot to mention the Plasma Cannon, it's powerfull but hard to use. But I would rather have this game like that, where you have to learn how to use a weapon instead of picking up the weapon and not even needing to learn how to use it long and wipe everyone out quickly. |

Thats very true, people will use what they know works. Had the SRs been released sooner, we might have seen more people spec into them. Instead, due to the SP investment its just not worth it to risk speccing into something you are completely unfamiliar with. They'll hopefully get more popular as time goes on, because they are really good. |
