My main is a Gallente Assault, ~10m SP, and boring since shotguns got the Sharpshooter skill removed and 2/3 of my ammo turned into mythical unicorn sprinkles.
My alt is a ~2m SP Minmatar in ADV Amarr Heavies with HMGs. I ***** love that thing and it stomps.
So, I'm think about getting my main into the HMG.
Here's my internal debate: All of my relative Dropsuit Upgrades are at 5, 4 ADV Light Weapons classes to choose from, ADV grenades, and a bunch of other useful bits. Should I just keep banging those while I wait for the Gallente Heavy?
Or, throw this and next week's earnings into the Amarr fatties and their toys, and go back to having fun on my main?
Thoughts or opinions are welcome.
(After proofreading this, I think I know what I'm going to do.)

I would start skilling into the HMG (since that seems to be your Heavy weapon of choice) and save up for the Gallente Heavy. I don't know how long you'll be waiting though, so ultimately you decide. I'm a proto Sentinel and after I get the last few of my necessary skills and modules to where I want them I'm saving up for the Minmatar Heavy (I'm hopeful that they'll give Heavies their SP back when they give us all of the options, but I'm saving SP just in case) If you don't want to wait I'd go to Basic (less SP) and go to ADV on your main. It sounds like you're looking for a Heavy that will armor tank, so if you don't mind the extra SP you should look into the Amarr Sentinel since they have more low slots for plates and repairers. If you need any Heavy tips I have a few guides posted as well as a synopsis of a match as a Heavy. |

I speed/damage tank on my Heavy alt, with the 2/2 ADV Basic (Best Heavy Dropsuit?) With the revised plate movement penalty I may HP tank a build or two. Which, I can already do with my main. Complex Reps & Plates, Extenders, etc.
I'm almost positive we'll see some sort of respecs when they introduce the proper racial variants. Possibly by petition only and only affecting Dropsuit Command. Maybe another inventory buyout and global respec with implementation of market and remaining frames. A fella can dream...
But, you do bring up an interesting point about going gun first. Although, I already have enough for my beloved MH-82 in Unallocated SP. And by the time those Gallente Heavies get here, I could easily be in ADV Sentinels - if not Proto, and on to the next thing.

From the look of it your current modules are perfect for an armor tanking Heavy, and if you have some heavy damage modifiers then you'll have one beast of a heavy. If you're looking for speed/damage I'd look into cardiac regulators. I've found that they work wonders for Heavies.
In your situation I'd go for for at least ADV Amarr Basic and get the MH-82, which you've already done on your alt. I'd wait after that but if no news comes up for a while I'd go for proto and then store up SP for whatever else you want or save up for that Gallente suit. |
