I was wondering if there was a dev that dons the scout suit because if there is not, I would say that it would benefit CCP if they actually had the devs experiencing the joys and frustrations that come with such. But I suspect none of them play scouts because half a year before addressing scouts (quick fix 1.5, scouts 1.6) is a long time to wait for any improvements, especially for a unit that has been around since the beginning. Also combine this with the fact that they had to see this through route numbers demonstrating the stale / flat line KDR of scouts despite ever increasing SP investment really does show you that scouts have trouble establishing credibility in CCP's eyes if they had to analysis this for half a year to come to this conclusion. This is vital because the fixes themselves will take months to balance as well, so we could be looking at another 3 to 6 months before we develop a base line for scouts.
Mind you I'm not leaving or anything, the support roles in the game are leaps and bounds above many others. I'm going to see what they are going to do with the scout, but my fear is that these scout fixes are going to be decided by non scout users. The only viable option for scouts currently is slayer mode, which Minmatar mediums really do it better while maintaining the scout feel.
TL/DR
This thread will not contain a whole lot of useful information, I will be producing a much more detailed piece and role analysis on scouts once I finish it. For now I was just curious if there were contacts in CCP which we could communicate with that have plays the scout. |

I believe Nova Knife, of the CPM, is a Scout. This is purely based off of his name though, as proficiency with the eponymous weapon is associated most with Scouts. |

Hi Dominus,
This may have been an oversight on my part. I've attempted to contact Nova and will add him to the Registry if he's still running Scout.

I'll add the Scout Registry's KDR Analysis for Uprising 1.2 and 1.3 momentarily. Let me know if I can be of further assistance, brother. o7 - Shotty |

I'm not really sure what to make of those graphs, tbh. For starters, what should the average KDR of a scout be? how many different roles should a scout play, and which of those roles should average what KDR's? It's hard to gauge what is a good or bad KDR for a class that can be used for everything from shotgunning speed tanks to sneaky hackers to flanking droplink/disruption agents
on top of that, you really only have enough statistics to say that, on average, most scouts make about a 1.5 to 2 KDR. Your high kill count and low kill count scout categories have insufficient data to truly see a trend. Also you don't have any data from other suits to balance it, and the amount of hidden variables is pretty high, you've got no controls to account for the natural bias'es of players who choose scout, the average skill level of players who choose different size suits, which control methods were used, and also a full breakdown by different weapons and fits would be useful. Also, what game mode do scouts normally play? And how did you sample these scouts? Even sending out ads in local in game would introduce a bias to the results, only certain types of players will respond.
but I digress. Scouts need some love. I got halfway through a megapost on different ways to specialize scouts more, and ways to differentiate between the two scout suits, and ways to encourage scouts to take on more roles than they do now (I.E. why not go minmatar assault for speed tank shotgunning, or why not go for a heavy suit or a logi for sniping (more EHP & for the logi, better equipment to sustain position, Amarr doesn't even sacrifice a sidearm)
so yea, when I'm feeling less sleep deprived, I'll finish those thoughts. I might even proof-read them (or just insert **** jokes intermittently, we'll see). Because scouts need some love. |

We're working with a significant sample size; more likely than not, it is representative of the population. Though I make no attempt to posit or prove hypothesis. Only track and report (and complain, on occasion).
The KDR trendline (above) tells us an interesting story. Here are a couple more charts for you. These are drawn from a larger sample, though they span a shorter timeline. A humble attempt of sorts at separating distinctly different distributions within our dataset:

Used to care about my KDR, now I commit suicide several times a match because it is faster than traveling across the map. I'm a detriment to that graph. my main on the registry uses sniper rifle, plasma cannon, mass driver, assault rifle, shotgun, scrambler pistol, and flaylock pistol and swarms. . . So much SP, after the 17 million for a light weapon, sidearm and the core skills what else to spend it on other than weapons |
