Does anyone else find Dust's events boring? Is there really any point to having "Do normal battle activity X for Y amount of times to get reward Z"? At best, this only causes players to pay more attention for opportunities to do X and at worst completely derails objective based gameplay.
I want to see objectives that directly change how a battle is played.
Some examples:
Hopeless Assault/Doomed Defense - X% chance that a battle will start with Defenders/Attackers having already captured all but one objective captured as well as all nearby installations and are given 1 or 2 (depending on which map) extra redline spawn points while Attackers/Defenders start with only Y% of clone amount. In exchange, Attackers/Defenders receive double SP from WPs and ISK rewards.
Unexpected Encounter - X% chance that a battle will also include a giant drone (once we have those) that will attack both teams. The person who gets the kill will receive Y WPs while also earning Z amount of ISK for everyone on his/her team.

On the unexpected encounter, let's not have be a giant drone, more like a swarm of drones.
It used to be like the "hopeless assault" way back in beta, and the attackers damn near always won.
I like your thought though.

Gives players that "Oh dam" feeling when going into a match lol. This is a good way to keep interests high.
`Sigh. Just another fun game of DUST. |

I chose a single giant drone so there could be a discernable person/group that receives the reward.
Though I suppose these could also be used as everyday events to give Dust a bit of randomness in the instant battles. |

During the event with the titan, if only for awhile, we had a visual change to the background and moods in the game. We need more noticeable stuff like that, though not saying it should just be visual. |

For it to be worthy of a special event, the drone would have to be tough enough that it would take a concentrated effort by a good portion of a single team to bring down.
The idea would be that the drone would appear at some point after the first objective rush and hover over an objective or two of the battlefield and attack everything within sight. If it was hovering over an objective(s) you didn't need, then your team would be best off leaving it alone. However, if you did need to capture it/them, it would be nearly impossible to do so while ignoring the drone meaning your only real option would to take on the drone. Or that is the intent anyways.
The single drone wouldn't work very well in Ambush or Domination though as in Ambush there would be no reason to fight it and in Domination it would give the team who has the objective when the drone showed up a huge advantage.

Even that is better than the "Do X for Y amount of times". |
