Since I figured out that squatting with the HMG reduces dispersion by a lot, I am struggling to understand why more people don't squat.

Squatting makes you extremely vulnerable as a Heavy. You not only turn slower, but you move much slower when squatting. If you get flanked while squatting you have no chance of escape.
It is a VERY situational tactic. |

Personally I would recommend you refrain from squatting while engaging at anything less than 30M. I'd rather be a gaint moving hitbox than a gaint stationary hitbox. Hell I won't even ADS at anything less 20M considering the dramatic decrease to strafe and turn speed. Regardless of the decrease to dispersion the sacrifice of mobility is simply too great.
Hopefully with the strafe and turn speed changes squatting will be a viable tactic in 1.4. |

"Doom Mode" is more the area denial part to a heavy HMG, you won't go runnng through a door way if a heavy is crouched and aiming at the small space you have to move through the doorway would ya? |

And with current map design and infrastructure how often do you find yourself holding down a doorway? Or even a doorway sized lane for that matter? |

Not very often, and with the current broken hit detection on the HMG(if the center dot of the HMG's reticule isn't on target you get no hit detection) all the enemy has to do is strafe and rush you. This will cause you to miss 75% of the rounds you fire. |
