I cant get to my ps3 right now, so I'm wondering if anyone has ran a shotgun on a logi? Thanks to the fitting tool, (damn I'm glad we have one) I've come up with a build that uses active scanners, remotes and a nanohive on an advanced winmatar logi, 7.8m/s sprint speed, 230 shield and 150 armour with advanced SG. Anyone have any experience with a suit like this? |

I see quite a few Minmatar Logi's running around with it. I prefer the SMG myself though. |

I've seen many people try it, I have seen nobody do it well.
Essentially the shotgun is the perfect niche weapon, it is useless out side of its optimal range, but nothing else can put out the raw power it has at CQC. The problem with a niche weapon is you need a sidearm to make yourself viable is areas farther than 10m, and the Minnie logi lacks the ability to do this.
Besides, as a logistics unit you shouldn't be getting into point blank range with the enemy. |

Lol, "seen nobody do it well". Of course it can be done, it can be extremely handy, I never use it all the time but hell I've used a shotgun on a paper thin logi suit and run out of ammo several times. I mainly use it to get in close and throw down a bunch of uplinks and then go kamikaze but shotty logis are great for when an area you're defending gets overrun, if you're expecting a close quarters fight and are a good shot, shotgun has no rival. |

The Idea behind it is to use the active scanner to be able to choose engagments rather than the run and gun style of SG on a scout or assault. The suits got an enhanced shield energiser rather than a third complex shield extender, just to free up the PG to fit on the equipment on the suit. Really need higher fitting skills, they just take ages to get and I'm easily distracted by new weapons... |

the assault works better. at proto level I've managed 9.73 sprint, ~650 EHP and you get to use a sidearm. In my experience a 7.8 run speed isn't fast enough to be terribly effective with the SG
EDIT: Annie Oakley and Calamity Jane both used logi suits in uprising IIRC, so it has definitely been done well... |

I have that as some of my fits OP, it works, but, the aiming system will get you killed atm. We'll see what CCP does in 1.4
You also NEED Dampners, don't listen to the people that say you don't need it.
So, Scan-
Then Flank the most vulnerable enemy. I don't run any Armour modules since you need all the speed you can get. If you've been spotted, then run the hell away until you lose them. Too much trouble to engage multiple enemies in CQC, this won't be a real option until aiming is fixed.
The wide and slow (DS3) acceleration is what's getting me killed the most. |

Correct me if i'm wrong, I don't use the scanner, but doesn't it give away your position when you use it? I would assume that would render the dampeners useless.... |

Wait what? The scanner turns me into a lovely yellow christmas tree for all to see? If I drop the scanner then I could fit a second militia kin cat, taking the speed to 8.1, but that means no extra stamina from running a stamina mod thingy. Basic build idea I have so far is:
K5 or CRG shotgun 2 complex shield extenders enhanced shield energiser 2 militia kin cats cpu enhancer compact nanohive remote explosives
That last equip slot is starting to bug me now.... |

I've done it, but lemme tell you this.
Of the three shotgun types, Breach is useless. Thanks to hives, you may be able to pull of Specialist.
Your low speed makes getting into Optimal nigh impossible.
the Shotty is a CPU hog if you want one semidecent.
Now, a shottylogi has one thing going for it. AMMO. Other than that you need to stay focused on leading the enemy into your shots, abuse corners and line of sight, let HIM come to YOU. You are too slow to do it the other way. STAY inside the Communications or Biomass facilities, never EVER go to the bridge or hanger areas. And never try it on Ashlands or Line Harvest. |

I use a Mimi Logi, 2 complex reds, 2 complex greens, 4 complex extenders a Specialist shotty some random nades and a nano hive. Works out fairly rather well. I use speed over equip to survive, but there are so many more fits that you can make. I have one that runs a bit slower but has boundless remotes a medium stabber, medium repair and medium nano hive. Just depends on what the situation calls for really. |

This is how I run my logi suit, I gotta say its fun, it forces you to actually be a logi rather than a logi/assualt |

I used to play shottylogi medic way way back in beta last year,it was effective for defending one's own self,HOWEVER i couldn't defend my teammates from distant enemy fire or kill distant players before i get get a revive off,so i ditched the concept and took up short-mid range weaponry. |
