Given the state of vehicles, I cant help but wonder if CCP took that into consideration? Will people with enforcer tanks be listed as a super threat and thrown into games against full proto infantry that almost certainly have hardcore AV? If so, thats jacked up. If not, will they adjust the values again after the vehicle buff (we hope -.-) coming in 1.5? |

1.4 isn't even out yet. I know people love to complain, but at least let the content be released first |

No, this is a serious comment. I would like to know where vehicles of certain types are placed as a threat level in the new system. |

Says the man blindly judging me without ever playing in a match with me. Well done. In fact, maybe I'll try this too. You are awful at whatever role you play in this game. I am basing this off of your avatar that I see here on the forums, which is Gallente, and your name, which is Bravo. From this information I can easily draw the conclusion that you seriously lack skill in every aspect of Dust 514, and all video games you play ever, plus high school gym class. |

I think they do, but this post is about the matchmaking and trying to get solid information. Please try reading... And then rereading. |

Has the description of the new system been changed again? (this would be the fourth or fifth time)
It is based on threat level now?
Last i checked it is based on player "skill" ie how well you did in previous battles. So in the above scenario if you are a kick ass tank driver you will go against kick ass players. If you are crap tank driver you will go against crap players....proto/SP/level will only effect the system indirectly....ie players in proto tend to do better then players not in proto so they would tend to be graded in the system as higher skill.
Of course there are players who play in proto who suck ass and die anyway....they would be put in lower skill matches. |

Don't take my word for it. I have not been up to date on this stuff with matchmaking.
About a month and a half ago was when they finally got around to tell us the proposed system had changed from being based on "gear" into being based on "skill"....it could have changed again since then. |

Well, for the time being I'll just take it as an extreme compliment if my tank enters a game full of proto AV guys dropping bodies left and right. |

Or on the flipside, tankers using the std variant (which is most tankers) will be placed in matches with std players, thus will be able to dominate beyond belief.
Although we have no idea how Null adjusted matchmaking to balance out players. Would be nice if they elaborated on that a bit. |

Matchmaking is one of the things that cannot be guessed from the patch notes. Not without the formula used in the matchmaking. Best to just wait until its here. Calling it though: Threads whining about the extra time it takes to get into matches. Sounds like it will take a few extra minutes for the system to fairly match people. Which is totally worth it, if it actually works, in my opinion. |

Wait....
You seem to be saying that there are patch notes and that they mention matchmaking.
Is this true?

OK stupid question. Does the matchmaking go off your current SP total or does it go off your suit you are currently wearing? I have not seen a post to explain how they determine were you are placed. If they have please tell me. |

the Dev said "skill".
I specifically asked him does he mean "skill points" as in level or does he mean actual player skill.
he said skill as in actual player skill.
he did not go into what metric he would use to measure player skill....presumably it will be based on how well you do in matches...like kills and assists and heals and objectives ect....basically stuff that gives you war points.
Again he did not go into specific metrics or how those metrics are added up to determine your "skill"....only that it is not SP and that it is not gear like they claimed it would be in the E3 video. |

Having accessible proto weapons and gear is what makes matchmaking broken. Suppose you have it but you don't use it, or you only use it for PC battles. Then matchmaking cannot possibly work unless you selected the fitting you plan to use prior to entering combat. I have always suggested letting people make their own games with their own rules, I.e. no vehicles or no mass drivers, pistols only, or snipers only. These are classic game rules that are traditional to most shooters. |

If aiming feels good for kb/m and DS3, and the AFK mechanic works, and the murdertaxis are neutered, and voice isn't messing with the game and the new map isn't maddeningly sticky and graphics improve and the game runs a little faster......we should start picking up new players at a steady pace.
Which will improve the quality of the matchmaking and drop the wait time. |
